1. The cockfighting in Alabama was the basic subject of this editorial.

2."An Alabama Senate Committee has approved proposed legislation to increase the fine for those involved in cockfighting from $50 to $6,000 with up to a year in jail."

3. The writer believes that cock fighting is disgusting and that its good that the legislation is changing the law.

4."Cockfighting, for those us that live in the civilized world and wouldn't know necessarily, is the barbaric blood sport that pits two roosters against each other in a ring."

6.I learned that this colmnist is very against animal cruelty.

7.I think the article was directed at the legislation for passing the new law, the cock fighters he was angry at, and anyone who would agree with him.

8.I think the writer could have put less opinion in the article and more facts to convice me.

1.The basic subject of this column is racism in sports.

2.The writer lists many examples of people making racist comments about popular atheletes.

"Fortune lies in front of Lin like a golden highway now. And it should. He paved it. Congrats to him. Without his will and effort, the poor kid probably would be stuck running Goldman Sachs by now," said  Rick Reilly.

3.The writer believes the racist coments are idiotic and a career ruining mistake.

4.I've always believed that we'll truly be beyond all this garbage when a person of color -- any color -- goes 50 feet above the line, and it isn't a big political thing anymore.

6.I learned that people make racial comments on everyone, even if you are famous and currently in the spotlight.

7.I think he is directing this editorial to the people who were saying the racist comments.

8.I believe he does because he shows what people say and actual quotes.
