Bleacher Report
NCAA Tournament 2014: Determining the best college basketball team isn't best ...
SB Nation
The NCAA Tournament is not the best way to determine the best team in college basketball, and it isn't designed to be.
Tanner Danek's insight:

After the UConn victory over Kentucky on Monday, people are still curious if UConn really can be considered the best team in College Basketball. Having Kentucky be the 8th seeded team and UConn the 7th, it is quite possible that no one would have predicted the outcome with these two teams in the championship game considering it is the highest combined seeding in the NCAA tournament final. Though UConn edged Kentucky, this does not mean that they are really the best as both teams are deserving of the title.

This was a tough time in my life because I really wanted Wisconsin to win. At least Kentucky lost in the championship game because UCONN was the team I liked. College basketball is getting a lot more popular which I think will also help the NBA. Gotta love college ball.

This was a great game to watch. The lead changed throughout the game consistently

Engineering in Sports: The Toughest Hockey Stick

Engineering in Sports: The Toughest Hockey Stick | Sports | Scoop.it
An innovative hockey team combines nano-technology with their love of the game.
Tanner Danek's insight:

A common problem that any and all hockey players face is the frustration of a broken stick while playing. Whether it be winding up to take a slapshot and having the stick break on contact or simply receiving a pass, hockey sticks have a tendency to break at the worst possible times. Colt Hockey's intentions were to create a new stick using nano technology to prevent the hassle of a broken stick during a hockey game. It offers the strength of industrial steel while also providing the lightweight and flexible nature that hockey sticks need.

I never knew this was a problem for hockey players! It definitely seems like a good idea to create a more flexible stick that doesn't break as often. I'm sure hockey players are grateful for this invention!
Erica Walsh's comment, April 9, 2014 11:07 AM
I knew that broken sticks were definitely a problem for hockey players but I had no idea that it was possible for this problem to be improved and maybe even fixed using nanotechnology. That's awesome and will definitely help out people who have this problem! It will also save a lot of money since there will be less broken sticks needed to be replaced.
