Sports Facility Management is a great sports career choice and can take you to big places, like the Super Bowl - learn more.
Justin Givens's insight:

This was another interesting article. It focuses on Stephen Sansonese who is the field and site grounds manager at MetLife Stadium and is charged with preparing the field and ensuring a safe playing surface. People often forget that he has this job, which is very important. Sansonese is only 27 years old and has a large amount of shoulders leaning on him due to the importance of his job. MetLife uses synthetic turf, and the article goes on to state that there is a ton of work in order to maintain it, despite what others think. Throughout the article he states what work there is to do when it comes to synthetic turf.

Justin Givens's insight:

This video was very interesting. I have never been to El Dorado, and this video is probably the closest I will ever get to seeing it (not because of the video). The video highlighted all of what El Dorado has to offer for also citizens that live there, and also tourists that come and visit. El Dorado has a ton of athletic facilities such as the BG Products Veterans Sport Complex which was built in 2012 and houses football games, soccer games, track, religious conventions, meetings, concerts, and offers covered seating, concession stands, restrooms, and many other conveniences. They also have the McDonald stadium which is for baseball games, conventions, rallies, and outdoor events. Next they have the East Sport Softball Complex, which is an ideal tournament destination for indoor sports. And lastly they have the El Dorado Activity Center which has three full size gyms, bleachers, locker rooms, and many other conveniences. They sum up the video stating that the city of El Dorado has a population of 15,000 and is the ideal location for youth and family sporting events.

Justin Givens's insight:

This article was pretty interesting. Personally I don’t really consider fishing a sport, but I am all for getting more people outside. The article talked about Neighborhood Fishing programs around my area (North Texas), and also stated that they drew in about 12,000 new members, and half of them were children. It also states that they estimate more than 80,000 people a year participate in this program and about half of those are children or adults who are new to fishing. It is great to get people of all ages outside and get families closer together.

Justin Givens's insight:

I really enjoyed watching this video, and it was also very educational. The video was produced by the Xenon Group, and with help from Magenta Associates that went around the room to many different facility managers and asked them what it means to be a facility manager, and what their role is in the company. The majority of the answers were that they do everything. They solve everyone's problems, balance clients expectations, manages and forecasts all accents in their business from front to back, and most importantly keep everyone happy. There were also a few of facility managers that said they do more than people give them credit for.
