KSU Department of Athletics Releases 2014 Baseball Promotions ... | Sport Marketing: Henderson, S. | Scoop.it
The Kennesaw State Department of Athletics has officially released the promotions schedule, listing special events, giveaways, and an assortment of in-game promotions, for the upcoming 2014 Kennesaw State baseball ...
Stacey Henderson's insight:

Here is yet another, article about baseball promotions. This one, however is unique because this article explains the in-game on-field promotions that KSU plans to do this year. This is very relevant to me, because for my summer internship, a huge part of my job is to plan the on-field games. The baseball team that I am working with is looking to revamp their marketing, and they are interested in doing more on-field promotions. The promotions listed in this article are interesting and seem very interactive and seem like they would also go over well with the audience that attend the baseball games I will be working.

Stacey Henderson's insight:

I really enjoy what this blog is all about. This is also something that I'm looking forward to doing in my career. I'm not sure if this person(I'm not sure whether it's a man or a woman) does this for a job or just on their own time, but either way it's a really cool idea. It would be so awesome to just blog about the hometown sports every day, and it would be even cooler if you could get paid for it. I love to blog, I blog for some of the organizations that I'm involved in and I think that it's a great way to start spreading positive word of mouth. Marketing teaches that positive word of mouth is very hard to develop because there is no way that you can control what consumers are saying about your product. Consumers are more likely to talk about businesses/brands when they are "bad" because they have had a bad experience. If you can generate positive word of mouth, it can be the most effective form of marketing for your organization. It is very important to make sure that your customers/constituents know that you care about their needs. Blogs can do all of these things (generate positive word of mouth and incorporate customer needs) as well as multiple other positive things for your business. Every company should have a blog, because it is a great marketing tool.

IMG World Congress Of Sports: Marketers Talk About Reaching The Next Generation - SportsBusiness Daily | SportsBusiness Journal | SportsBusiness Daily Global

IMG World Congress Of Sports: Marketers Talk About Reaching The Next Generation - SportsBusiness Daily | SportsBusiness Journal | SportsBusiness Daily Global | Sport Marketing: Henderson, S. | Scoop.it
The closing panel at the '14 IMG World Congress of Sports on Thursday focused on how to reach the next generation of consumers.
Stacey Henderson's insight:

This article brings up a very important topic about being able to change your communication tactics daily. The younger generations have grown up in the information age, and they are used to information being thrown at them in every way possible. This has contributed to short attention spans, therefore they get bored easily. It's important to stay on top of the trends so that you can reach your audience. It's also important to reach the younger generations, especially in sports, so that you can begin to gain brand loyalty as compared to other teams. It also points out that social media sites are becoming more important and are somewhat replacing official web sites for younger generations. This is definitely true, because social media sites offer a sort of "one stop shop, or look" for the younger generations. They are able to keep up with all of their interests in one place, so they don't have to visit various websites.

Promotions Schedules | Nick Stover

Promotions Schedules | Nick Stover | Sport Marketing: Henderson, S. | Scoop.it
With the University of Louisville Baseball team beginning their quest for a second straight trip to Omaha today, it felt appropriate to look ahead to the schedule of promotions for the 2014 Season at Jim Patterson Stadium.
Stacey Henderson's insight:

This article is very informative because it explains why having sports promotion is very important for bringing customers into the games. It also explains the reasons to have sports promotions and the objectives that promotions are supposed to achieve. It is very important to remember the main marketing objectives that are trying to be achieved from promotions. Its very easy to forget the main objectives that come with promotions while planning for them. Using promotions can be very useful with bringing fans into the games, as long as they are targeted correctly and marketing objectives are kept in mind.

After a year as an intern, he began the path of promotions, marketing and public relations that led to the general manager position. “I'm probably the exception to the rule,” Long said.
Stacey Henderson's insight:

This is exactly where I plan on starting my career. I love baseball and hope to somehow start working with an affiliated baseball team as soon as I can after I graduate. I would love to be able to work in the promotions and marketing department for any affiliated team. My career goal is to work my way up to a major league team and hopefully get a high position within their promotions department. This is also a cool aspect of the job, staying with one ball park and working many different positions. This would be a great way to start a career, to make sure that I really want to work in marketing and to make sure that another department doesn't interest me more than marketing/promotions.

"Promotions typically help losing teams more than winning teams.
Stacey Henderson's insight:

"Promotions usually help losing teams more than winning teams" is an interesting point. I have never thought about it like that before, but now that I do it makes complete sense. Fans will attend a game for a good team because they assume that they will see great baseball, and they assume that their team will win the game. Losing teams need something to bring their fans into the game, because it is unlikely that they will win. I think that giveaways are a great form of promotion either way because it makes the fans feel appreciated. When you give the fans something, especially something kind of expensive like bobbleheads or t-shirts, they are more likely to establish connections with the team. It builds an emotional bond between the team(which is the brand) and the consumer, which then encourages brand loyalty.
