What i learned was that fantasy football started much earlier than I had thought, dating back to 1962. It didn't start becoming as big until it went online and really blew up and now there are presently 30 million participants in fantasy football. It was also one of the first "social medias" in  a way because it brought together a large group of people with the same interest. Fantasy football is the biggest marketing tool that the NFL has. Statistically, fantasy football players are more likely to purchase tickets to games and apparel and gear than anyone else. 

I selected this article because fantasy football is a growing market for both fans and NFL players. The NFL and their players gain more awareness through fantasy sports and are able to generate more money. This will help with my career in the sport management industry because I plan on doing marketing during my career and there is no better marketing tool than fantasy football since it gets a lot of fan participation and will make marketers who are involved in fantasy a lot of money.

This article caught my eye because its about Fantasy Football. Fantasy football is the single most important marketing tool used by the NFL. Fantasy players watch more games and buy more tickets than anyone else. The NFL has got huge returns by supporting this user-generated content. This form of marketing is different to me and thats why its so good to know. I found this very interesting and new.
