Last week, I posted about Common Core Math Vocabulary. Two of the words on the kindergarten list were 'larger' and 'smaller'---so I decided to modify a Tarheel Reader book, going beyond 'big' and 'little'.

Extremely important for clients to have motivation. When clients do not have motivation, they are less likely to make as much progress as they would if they had it.

Technology is everywhere, even in therapy sessions. Knowing which apps are top rated can be very beneficial to therapy sessions. Children are all about technology, and finding a way to incorporate technology in therapy sessions can help engage clients.

This is a good source to use because it is from ASHA, the American Speech Language Hearing Association. The article outlines sevreal reasons why a child may revert in social situations, after seemingly making progress in therapy. One reason offered is techniques are too hard to use in situations outside therapy. A second reason offered is children may think that techniques make them sound weird. Children want to fit in with their peers, not stand out. A third reason offered is the techniques are too costly. The effort the child puts into the technique may outweigh the benefit.

Speech therapy is extremely important in and outside of the classroom. Each client should have at home lesson plans.

A very insightful video displaying the vocal cords in action. What a great learning tool. |
