Blog: Camilla Corona SDO - NASA Mission Mascot: What did THEY think? | SpaceTweetUp18Sept | Scoop.it

Dear Tweetup Attendees - thank you for being such cool peeps! Not only did so many of you pose with me, hold me, or tape me to a stick, but you have been sharing your stories, excitement and inspiration of ESA, DLR and many missions.

But I must also ask you to not stop there! You now have gotten an inside look of the wonderful things that are being done, the science that comes out of it and the impact it has today and in the future. Now you must take this knowledge, excitement and interest to the next level and share it with others in your circles. You have an opportunity to spread the understanding of "Why are we wanting to explore what's out there?". You have the ability to inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers, and explorers. It's easy to do, really. Continue to follow ESA, DLR, NASA, the Canadian, UK, Australian Space Agencies, ROSCOSMOS etc. and their missions. Learn what they all do, the missions they have, the science that comes out from them, and then share your knowledge with others.

#FollowFriday – Light Years - CNN.com Blogs | SpaceTweetUp18Sept | Scoop.it

Every Friday, @CNNLightYears will suggest interesting and exciting space and science Twitter accounts to follow.

The European Space Agency is an international organization made up of 18 member states that strive to "find out more about Earth, its immediate space environment, our Solar System, and the Universe," according to its website. @ESA tweets photos from missions, as well as interacts with followers by answering questions. Also, similar to the #NASATweetup, @ESA has the #SpaceTweetup which is very interesting to follow.

Blog: Signals from #space

Blog: Signals from #space | SpaceTweetUp18Sept | Scoop.it

Inga Vesper glimpses the world of Twitter space-science fans and fanatics at the European Space Agency’s ‘tweetup’. Exerpt: “What? You’ve never met Camilla, the space chicken?” @CraftLass looks at me in astonishment. I shrug helplessly. I am only just getting my head around the fact that I am sitting in a “twent”, watching endless Twitter messages raining down on a “monitter”, which has been fixed over a “twibune” at the centre of the twent. But I still haven’t figured out what a tweeper is. Or why people shout “awesome” at random. And for that matter, who is Camilla? I know only one thing: this is serious geek territory.”
