ASX-listed Sky and Space Global has hit another critical milestone on its march towards full commercialisation of its game-changing nano-satellite network, receiving official approval from the UK’s communications regulator. The tick of approval from the regulator, known as Ofcom, is validation of the successful operation in orbit of the Perth-listed company’s three demonstration nano-satellites.

Edinburgh-based Skyrora, a company with partners in Ukraine, will launch a partially 3D printed suborbital vehicle from the north of Scotland later this year. Skyrora's rocket engines run on hydrogen peroxide and kerosene.

A new, compact cooling system that will be used on the Twinkle spacecraft has undergone recent tests at the Science and Technology Facilities Councils (STFC) RAL Space facility.

Twinkle’s instruments need to be cooled so that the detectors measure radiation from the planet, rather than emissions from the satellite
