Supermassive Black Holes Suggest We May Be Very Wrong About How Our Universe Formed –

Supermassive Black Holes Suggest We May Be Very Wrong About How Our Universe Formed – | Science, Space, and news from 'out there' | Scoop.it

At the center of two dwarf galaxies were found supermassive black holes even larger than the one in the Milky Way.

The universe can be thought of as one big, continuously expanding space. An interesting theory about this expansion assumes that the universe could’ve spawned from a singularity — not the technological kind — similar to way that black holes are said to be the origin of galaxies.

There’s much about the formation of galaxies and black holes that we don’t understand yet, let alone the very origins of the universe, but scientists continue to explore and evaluate this interesting theory. Now, a new study published in The Astronomical Journal is providing us with more clues about how black holes operate in the cosmos.

Not long ago, supermassive black holes (SMBH) were thought to be found only in bigger galaxies, like the Milky Way. Then, a team of astronomers from the University of Utah found a SMBH at the center of an ultra-compact dwarf galaxy, which they concluded must be an uncommon occurrence. But now the team has found SMBH at the centers of two other dwarf galaxies named VUCD3 and M59cO.

Sepp Hasslberger's insight:

Black holes seem to be a mathematically modelled bugbear. They "eat everything" ... except they don't. And they probably don't even exist as such. What we see are just incredibly energetic galactic creation events. The universe is alive...

Solar System's History in Disarray | Space News

A new paper published in the Journal Nature Astronomy offers a further breakthrough for proponents of planetary catastrophe. The study suggests that the large majority of asteroids in the inner asteroid belt are pieces of 5 annihilated worlds, called planetesimals. The clue the team followed was the unusual inclined or titled orbits of near-earth asteroids. In this episode, we explore why this finding is just one of countless discoveries that throw the standard story of our solar system's alleged four and a half billion year history into total disarray. What promising alternatives can be found in the Electric Universe?

Sepp Hasslberger's insight:

New insights on how the solar system (and all other star systems) form... electrical forces are involved, rather than gravitational collapse of gas clouds.

Chinese Satellite Captures a Cool View of Earth from Lunar Orbit

Chinese Satellite Captures a Cool View of Earth from Lunar Orbit | Science, Space, and news from 'out there' | Scoop.it

After a 20-day journey, China’s Queqiao lunar communications relay satellite has made it to lunar orbit. Its companion, the Longjiang-2 microsatellite, wasted no time, taking some neat pics of Earth and the lunar surface.

Queqiao, meaning Magpie Bridge, is a key component of the upcoming Chang’e 4 lander and rover mission, at which time it will provide a continuous communications link to Earth while the probe does its exploratory work on the dark side of the Moon. Chang’e 4 is expected to launch at some point in December 2018.

Sepp Hasslberger's insight:

So the Chinese are going to go to the moon with a rover to check out the "dark side", the one we can't see. This is the first part of the mission, a communications satellite that will keep a constant radio connection for the mission. The released a few pictures of the earth from a point close to the moon. So good to have someone besides NASA getting us some images.

China All Set To ‘Make First Contact’ With Aliens

China All Set To ‘Make First Contact’ With Aliens | Science, Space, and news from 'out there' | Scoop.it

China, which on its way to emerge as a Space Superpower, claims to be the first nation to make contact with alien life using the world's largest radio dish. According to researchers, the dish, which is 500-metre Aperture Spherical Telescope is about twice the size of the US' Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico, can detect signals from the deepest depths of space.

In 2016, China became a space exploration powerhouse after it fired its brand new lab Tiangong 2 into low orbit – joining the US and Russia.

Sepp Hasslberger's insight:

I have a feeling the Chinese may want to force the Americans' hand, by saying they are making contact. In order not to be second, the US-led cover up of what's going on in space might just give us what we want, disclosure. Although if they do, they will try to get away with giving as little data as possible.

We should also not forget that we do not have anyone, neither the SSP (Secret Space Program), nor any country on earth, that can speak authentically for humanity.

Also, I don't think that disclosure (and perhaps ailien intervention) is automatically positive. We need to really find out what it is that is being offered, in case intervention does occur, and what is the potential cost to our independence as a civilization...

Australia “weather-experts” falsify climate change | Science, Space, and news from 'out there' | Scoop.it

“Australian scientists at the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) ordered a review of temperature recording instruments after the government agency was caught tampering with temperature logs in several locations.”

“Agency officials admit that the problem with instruments recording low temperatures likely happened in several locations throughout Australia, but they refuse to admit to manipulating temperature readings. The BOM located missing logs in Goulburn and the Snow Mountains, both of which are in New South Wales.”

Team combines quantum physics and photosynthesis to make discovery that could lead to highly efficient solar cells

Team combines quantum physics and photosynthesis to make discovery that could lead to highly efficient solar cells | Science, Space, and news from 'out there' | Scoop.it

He set out to re-think solar energy conversion by asking the question: can we make materials for solar cells that more efficiently absorb the fluctuating amount of energy from the sun. Plants have evolved to do this, but current affordable solar cells - which are at best 20 percent efficient - do not control these sudden changes in solar power, Gabor said. That results in a lot of wasted energy and helps prevent wide-scale adoption of solar cells as an energy source.

Gabor, and several other UC Riverside physicists, addressed the problem by designing a new type of quantum heat engine photocell, which helps manipulate the flow of energy in solar cells. The design incorporates a heat engine photocell that absorbs photons from the sun and converts the photon energy into electricity.

Surprisingly, the researchers found that the quantum heat engine photocell could regulate solar power conversion without requiring active feedback or adaptive control mechanisms.

Read more at: http://phys.org/news/2016-11-team-combines-quantum-physics-photosynthesis.html#jCp

Sepp Hasslberger's insight:

How do plants optimally use sunlight? These scientists just found out how the green color in plants is the 'sweet spot' of efficient energy capture. They think this might be a way of making more efficient solar cells.

I think this is a good step in the direction of understanding how Nature works so we can copy her...

The research was only possible because one man left his field of expertise to learn another one. Combining insights from both, he found the mechanism.

Reality doesn’t exist until we measure it, quantum experiment confirms

Reality doesn’t exist until we measure it, quantum experiment confirms | Science, Space, and news from 'out there' | Scoop.it

Australian scientists have recreated a famous experiment and confirmed quantum physics's bizarre predictions about the nature of reality, by proving that reality doesn't actually exist until we measure it - at least, not on the very small scale.

That all sounds a little mind-meltingly complex, but the experiment poses a pretty simple question: if you have an object that can either act like a particle or a wave, at what point does that object 'decide'?

Our general logic would assume that the object is either wave-like or particle-like by its very nature, and our measurements will have nothing to do with the answer. But quantum theory predicts that the result all depends on how the object is measured at the end of its journey. And that's exactly what a team from the Australian National University has now found...
Sepp Hasslberger's insight:

I believe that reality still exists but it only expresses itself when observed. Our thoughts and perceptions definitely do contribute to the reality we experience... they are necessary for it to come alive.

A particle of light, a photon, is a wave unless and until it is stopped (or observed or "detected") at which time it curls up and is expressed as a particle.

Billions of such particles then allow us to observe the energetic and material "reality" that surrounds us.

NASA Discovers "Lonely Mountain" on Ceres Likely a Salty-Mud Cryovolcano - or not? | Science, Space, and news from 'out there' | Scoop.it

Ceres’ mysterious mountain Ahuna Mons is seen in this mosaic of images from NASA’s Dawn spacecraft. On its steepest side, this mountain is about 3 miles (5 kilometers) high. Its average overall height is 2.5 miles (4 kilometers). The diameter of the mountain is about 12 miles (20 kilometers).

“There is nothing quite like Ahuna Mons in the solar system,” said Lucy McFadden of NASA Goddard, a co-author on the paper. “It’s the first cryovolcano we’ve seen that was produced by a brine and clay mix.”

Sepp Hasslberger's insight:

So it's a unique object in the solar system, yet they have no problem identifying it as an ice volcano.

Rather than an ice volcano, I see an open excavation pit and right next to it a mountain of discarded debris. It even has the right type of flanks that you'd expect when piling mine tailings up really high... like what was it, some 4000 meters.

Why is it so difficult for us to accept that there may well be space-faring civilisations out there, with a technological level vastly superior to ours, mining both asteroids and planets...

New Form of Carbon is Stronger Than Graphene and Diamond

New Form of Carbon is Stronger Than Graphene and Diamond | Science, Space, and news from 'out there' | Scoop.it

The sixth element, carbon, has given us an amazing abundance of extraordinary materials. Once there was simply carbon, graphite and diamond. But in recent years chemists have added buckyballs, nanotubes and any number of exotic shapes created out of graphene, the molecular equivalent of chickenwire.

So it’s hard to believe that carbon has any more surprises up its sleeve. And yet today, Mingjie Liu and pals at Rice University in Houston calculate the properties of another form of carbon that is stronger, stiffer and more exotic than anything chemists have seen before.

The new material is called carbyne. It is a chain of carbon atoms that are linked either by alternate triple and single bonds or by consecutive double bonds...

Materials science: Carbon seems to be a very versatile element. A new and still stronger form of carbon is on the horizon...

The Omega Point Cosmo-Teleology: Our Forgotten Future (The Origins of Us, Part III)

The Omega Point Cosmo-Teleology: Our Forgotten Future (The Origins of Us, Part III) | Science, Space, and news from 'out there' | Scoop.it
by Alex Vikoulov

What is the Omega Point? One may speculate by defining it as Absolute Consciousness, the source of the omnidimensional matrix, i.e. the holographic projector of all possible observer timelines, including other permutational modularities such as possible anti-timelines in our quantum multiverse, as well as possible modularities in even larger inflationary multiverse — all pasts, presents and futures, and other yet inconceivable to us “pattern crawlings" exist as potentiality until experienced. In brief, it is the source of everything. In my life as a human, I see clues that evolution on Earth and elsewhere in the cosmos at large is not being pushed from behind in entropic randomness but being pulled forward by complexification, natural selection and other evolutionary forces orchestrated by a strange unseen teleological attractor, in McKenna’s words the "Transcendental Object” at the end of time. We've discussed the Omega Point cosmology in part II of the essay “Temporal Dynamics: Seven Misconceptions About The Nature of Time”. Here, we're wrapping up our discussion with a number of additional important issues.

French scholar Pierre Teilhard de Chardin (1881–1955) who coined the term 'Omega Point', is known worldwide for his synthesis of science and theology applied to cosmogenesis and evolutionary processes. He was a Jesuit philosopher, a scientist, and a pantheist. His works remain a great inspiration for generations of philosophers, scientists, theologians, and artists. In his visionary book “Le Phénomène Humain" (The Phenomenon of Man) written in 1938 and posthumously published in 1955, he predicted the emergence of 'Noosphere' (from the Greek “nous”, meaning mind), a term first coined by the Russian cosmist Vladimir Vernadsky. The Noosphere is the collective consciousness of humanity, the networks of thought and emotion in which we all are immersed, it's a cognitive layer of the planet, which has found a physical expression in the form of today's Internet. As the Noosphere gains more coherence, this process of "planetization" accelerates. Eventually, the Noosphere gains total dominance over the Biosphere and reaches a point of complete independence from “tangential energy”, i.e. material substrates, forming a metaphysical being, Teilhard calls the Omega Point. One may see significant overlapping ideas between the transhumanist Technological Singularity and the Teilhardian Omega Point...

Sepp Hasslberger's insight:

This rather long article introduces a conception of universe as basically code, as a program rather than an accumulation of material aspects. In the digital view of the universe, consciousness is primary and matter, reality is seen as 'not real', as a projection if you will, on a cosmic screen.

The author then develops the concept of humanity developing its own consciousness, quite apart but still including that of every one of us individually... He goes into quite some detail and describes two ways we can arrive there: The transhumanist vision of a computerised upload into the cloud, assisted by artificial intelligence, and the vision of Teilhard de Chardin where humanity comes together at what he calls The Omega Point...

The Electron Began the Universe – www.nicholasginex.com | Science, Space, and news from 'out there' | Scoop.it

Have you ever wondered how the universe began?

The Big Bang Theory is still the prevailing cosmological model for the universe taught in many of our schools and universities; particularly religious institutions.

Many people believe this one-time event was initiated by God, Maker of all that is. This theory was proceeded by George Lemaitre, a Belgian priest and physicist. Ordained a Catholic priest, Lemaitre published a scientific paper in 1927 where he claimed the universe was continually expanding.

His theory was supported in 1929 by Edwin Hubble who postulated expansion of the universe by observing that distant galaxies where moving away at faster rates. However, in 1931, Lemaitre announced that the expansion of the universe began from an incredibly small, dense point of matter, which he called the ‘primeval atom.’  Today, physicists believe it caused the Big Bang.

Sepp Hasslberger's insight:

An interesting article by Nicholas Ginex putting consciousness and the humble electron at the origin of the universe, in place of the Big Bang as originally promoted by a Catholic priest in Belgium.

Doubling Time Theory Explained In A Nutshell

Doubling Time Theory Explained In A Nutshell | Science, Space, and news from 'out there' | Scoop.it

Why is there space, time and life? Why is there such a thing as doubling ?

It seems to us that many questions have gone without an answer far too long. Why is there such a thing as the universe? Why does time exist? Why does life exist? And above all, am I truly insignificant and useless in the immense space around me?

The doubling theory tackles these questions from a new angle, and allows us to obtain answers that push back the limits of modern physics. This theory allowed me to understand and explain the workings of the solar system and its 25,920 year cycle.

By carrying out measurements in our solar system, and rigorously justifying planetary movements, in conformity with the fundamental doubling movement defined in the theory, the speed of light was justified and above all calculated for the first time, as were two faster-than-light speeds, required for time doubling. Following on the calculation of these three doubling speeds, the theorem of the three doubling energies was developed, demonstrating the existence of an anti-gravitational energy (66,6%) linked to gravitational energy (33,3%), completing exchange energy (0,01%).

My last scientific paper at the American Institute of physics (New York) in 2006 allowed me to explain the arrival of the planetoids in the vicinity of Pluto, and to calculate the fine structure constant.

This theory, which calculates universal constants, overthrows assumptions that once appeared rock steady, rounds out perfectly proven existing laws, and is revolutionising physics and the way we see the world...

Starship troopers? Trump eyes space force, calls cosmos ‘war-fighting domain’

Starship troopers? Trump eyes space force, calls cosmos ‘war-fighting domain’ | Science, Space, and news from 'out there' | Scoop.it

US President Donald Trump has floated the creation of a Space Force, a new military branch to utilize outer space as a “war domain,” just like land, air or sea. Apart from that, he promised the Americans will soon reach Mars.

Speaking to a crowd of Marines at Miramar Air Station in San Diego, California, Trump said his administration may consider establishing what he termed the “Space Force.” The new arm of the US military would operate just like the Army or Air Force, only in outer space.

“My new national strategy for space recognizes that space is a war-fighting domain, just like the land, air and sea. We may even have a Space Force. We have the Air Force. We will have a Space Force,” Trump said.

Sepp Hasslberger's insight:

The news is that US president Trump sees Space as a "war fighting domain" and says the US will probably have its own "Space Force". I see two things wrong with this.

- First, the US already has had its troopers out there in space for decades, without admitting to it, so this might be seen as a sort of limited disclosure. A rather dishonest disclosure though as our covert space programs remain just that ... covert.

- Second, you do not pick a fight with an enemy who is vastly superior to you. Basic warfighting procedure ... and Space is home to civilizations that are vastly superior in technological capability. We have little or nothing to make a serious dent out there. So to say we consider Space as a war fighting domain is nothing short of idiotic.

Diplomacy, yes.

War fighting ... come on!

Launch of To The Stars Academy Promises Transport Revolution with Space-Time Technology

Launch of To The Stars Academy Promises Transport Revolution with Space-Time Technology | Science, Space, and news from 'out there' | Scoop.it

Rockstar Tom DeLonge Live Streamed the launch of his latest venture, To The Stars Academy of Arts & Science. During this October 11 Live Streaming he introduced a number of former aerospace scientists and defense department personnel knowledgeable in applying exotic information gained from the Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon (UAP – aka UFO) for the development of advanced transportation technologies.

Each of the presenters at the Live Stream explained some of their expertise acquired during their careers and how it could help in the development of a transportation revolution. This is exemplified in the effort to develop a space-time device that could make transportation around the globe possible in a matter of minutes.

When it comes to developing space-time transportation technologies, the prospect of reinventing the wheel will be time consuming and duplicates what has occurred in the classified world. Yet this seems necessary while efforts continue to push for the disclosure of black project technologies to the public,

Former Lockheed Skunkworks director Ben Rich famously summarized the problem when he said

We already have the means to travel among the stars, but these technologies are locked up in black projects, and it would take an act of God to ever get them out to benefit humanity. Anything you can imagine, we already know how to do.

DeLonge’s To The Stars Academy of Arts and Science, doesn’t qualify as such an act of God, but it is a small step forward in facilitating such a breakthrough.

Sepp Hasslberger's insight:

Here is an effort by rockstar Tom DeLonge to bring existing advanced space transport technologies into public view and perhaps even into public use... I feel this may not be "it" but it's interesting nevertheless that we are moving in this direction.

Notable Scientists Gather To Emphasize: Physical Material “Matter” Is Not The Only Reality

Notable Scientists Gather To Emphasize: Physical Material “Matter” Is Not The Only Reality | Science, Space, and news from 'out there' | Scoop.it

“The day science begins to study non-physical phenomena, it will make more progress in one decade than in all the previous centuries of its existence.” – Nikola Tesla

A group of internationally recognized scientists have come together to stress the importance of what is still commonly overlooked in the mainstream scientific community – the fact that matter (protons, electrons, photons, anything that has a mass) is not the only reality. We wish to understand the nature of our reality, but how can we do so if we are continually examining only physical systems? What about the role of non-physical systems, such as consciousness, or their interaction with physical systems (matter)?

Fortunately, some scientists are studying non-physical systems, and the double slit experiment is a great example of  this.  A paper published by Dean Radin, PhD, in the peer-reviewed journal Physics Essays, explains how this experiment has been used multiple times to explore the role of consciousness in shaping the nature of physical reality....

Sepp Hasslberger's insight:

Scientists are starting to look at not only matter but also at the causal spiritual principles behind the material reality out there...

An Interview with Deepak Chopra: You Are the Universe | Science, Space, and news from 'out there' | Scoop.it

Chopra: Science is struggling to explain what is called Reality.

We’ve been through several iterations about what the universe is made of, who made the universe, what made the universe. We’ve been through the divine universe as explained in the book of Genesis. We’ve been through Newtonian classical physics, relativistic physics, both general theory and also special theory of relativity—quantum mechanics, eternal inflation, cosmic inflation, multiverses, on and on.

None of these theories of science actually explains what Reality is or how we even know that there is something called Reality. So, the two basic mysteries of existence remain mysterious:

(1) What is the true nature of existence?

(2) How do we know that we exist or that something exists?

I felt it was incumbent upon me—along with the help of physicists, cosmologists, and quantum physicists including my co-author, Menas Kafatos—to really look at these two very fundamental questions. What is reality? What is existence? And how come we have awareness of that existence? That was the genesis of

Consciousness could be a side effect of 'entropy', say researchers | Science, Space, and news from 'out there' | Scoop.it

The quest to understand human consciousness - our ability to be aware of ourselves and our surroundings - has been going on for centuries. Although consciousness is a crucial part of being human, researchers still don't truly understand where it comes from, and why we have it.

But a new study, led by researchers from France and Canada, puts forward a new possibility: what if consciousness arises naturally as a result of our brains maximising their information content? In other words, what if consciousness is a side effect of our brain moving towards a state of entropy?

Sepp Hasslberger's insight:

They still regard the second law of thermodynamics as holy writ, which it definitely is not. Entropy is balanced by syntropy, its opposite. Syntropy is an ordering influence. It decreases disorder. It is associated with living things.

When will they learn that insisting the only thing that exists is the material will not allow us to understand the All?

Are graphene light-sponges the new solar sails?

A team of Chinese physicists has developed a new variety of light-based propulsion system with the ability to harness much greater forces than a conventional solar sail.

The key, according to the Nankai University-based group, is in swapping out the mirrored sail—which captures photonic energy as radiation pressure in much the same way a regular air-sail captures wind energy—for a pure-black graphene sponge. Rather than reflect off of the sail, light is absorbed by the sponge, which converts that energy into propulsion.

Sepp Hasslberger's insight:

'Solar sails' are used to propel some of our space probes. Using graphene instead of mirrors, their efficiency could be very much increased...

EmDrive works: Nasa Eagleworks' paper has finally passed peer review, says scientist in the know | Science, Space, and news from 'out there' | Scoop.it

The EmDrive is the invention of British scientist Roger Shawyer, who proposed in 1999 that based on the theory of special relativity, electricity converted into microwaves and fired within a closed cone-shaped cavity causes the microwave particles to exert more force on the flat surface at the large end of the cone (i.e. there is less combined particle momentum at the narrow end due to a reduction in group particle velocity), thereby generating thrust.

His critics say that according to the law of conservation of momentum, his theory cannot work as in order for a thruster to gain momentum in one direction, a propellant must be expelled in the opposite direction, and the EmDrive is a closed system.

However, Shawyer claims that following fundamental physics involving the theory of special relativity, the EmDrive does in fact preserve the law of conservation of momentum and energy.

Sepp Hasslberger's insight:

A self-contained electromagnetic drive that creates thrust in one direction... fuelless rocketry on the horizon!
