liam's insight:

If you are striving to become a sportswriter it is a good idea to start following one of your favorite teams and know the inside and outside of the team. Tracking the teams roster changes and transactions will make it easy to write about the team. A good way to get used to the writing style is by reading other sports writers articles. Some of the most well known sports writers are Bill Simmons and MIke Lupica. These writers display comedy while still displaying the analysis of the recent games or events. The tough part of a sportswriters career is they have very little time to get their articles submitted because they want the news broadcasted to the public as quickly as possible. Pay is good for sportswriters even if they are writing for a relatively small firm or company. Having a degree in journalism will increase your odds of getting a job in sportswriting.
