ronyrao's insight:

US-based independent solar inverter Australia prices module testing laboratory, PV Evolution Labs (PVEL) has carried out Potential Induced Degradation (PID) testing programs on modules from Yingli Green, SolarWorld, JA Solar, Kyocera, and Trina Solar.PVEL tested modules at 85˚C at 85% relative humidity for 600 hours that resulted in all manufacturers passing the test. However, the testing house did not provide details on possible PID degradation or which modules from the manufacturers were actually tested.

Although no industry-wide acknowledged test standard for PID currently exists, the IEC 62804 standard includes test conditions of 60 degree Celsius, 85% relative humidity and a negative 1,000V DC charge for a continuous period of 96 hours. However, modules are considered to have passed the test if they show less than a 5% loss in performance of their nominal power.

Jenya Meydbray, CEO of PVEL said, “Sophisticated module testing and characterization is about realizing the benefits of good design. Our PID Certification provides manufacturers and project investors with detailed intelligence about how PV inverter Australia products withstand a common cause of performance degradation and module failure.”Extending the testing period is designed to provide further confidence in a module manufacturer’s product quality.

Research project on pv plants in the sun belt

Research project on pv plants in the sun belt | solar inverter manufacturers from australia and china | Scoop.it

The earth's sun belt offers superb conditions for the harvesting of solar power. Large-scale PV plants with power in the gigawatt range spanning several square kilometers and providing electric current feed-in directly to the high-voltage grid are especially well-suited for this purpose.

However, the often extreme climate conditions on-site present a challenge to the plants and their components. These PV plants must be optimized to withstand extreme heat, monsoon rains and desert storms, and at the same time remaining economically viable. The results of the project should help to further the leadership in innovation and strength in exports of the German photovoltaics industry and to develop future growth markets.

Over the next three years SMA, TÜV Rheinland and the University of Kassel are, therefore, collaborating on the Giga-PV research project supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research in order to, apart from the optimization of system concepts, PV modules and inverters, achieve a significant reduction in costs for large-scale PV plants installed in the earth's sun belt. The solar  inverter Australia  module producer Hanwha Q.Cells GmbH is an additional associated partner. The Giga-PV project is one of many collaborative research projects started up recently within the framework of the "Innovationsallianz Photovoltaik" (Alliance for Innovation in Photovoltaics) and supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research as well as the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety.

The photovoltaic industry bailout still need to return to the market-oriented

The photovoltaic industry bailout still need to return to the market-oriented | solar inverter manufacturers from australia and china | Scoop.it

The domestic photovoltaic enterprises are facing difficulties, has attracted the attention of the government. Comprehensive rescue government from both domestic and international dimensions of an industry, which is still rare in the past, the government support enterprise initiatives. It was showed that the government interest safeguarding determination, also prove photovoltaic industry are faced with the problem is very serious. In fact, photovoltaic enterprise faced with the plight of the industrial development is beyond the market the result of tolerance today. And the government to save photovoltaic enterprise, the most fundamental way is to let the photovoltaic industry back to the track of the market.

PV industry to return to a market-oriented track, the most fundamental is to be the enterprise for production according to the actual needs of the market, but the government in the guide industry development more must fully consider the tolerance market. A few years ago, some of our local PV industry as an important area to promote the industrial development of the new technologies, resulting in universal product oversupply.

Now, in the face of the plight of the photovoltaic industry, the use of fiscal funds to subsidies, aims to help PV companies to survive the current winter. But more important, companies need to rethink the blind "gets going on" lessons learned from the actual market demand, the same should also address the excessive use of administrative powers to promote the economic development of adverse effects. To solve the problem of the basic method shall also is guide the photovoltaic industry to respect the market, and save city action also should abide by the basic principle of marketization.

California solar data reveals winners as SolarCity heads for IPO

California solar data reveals winners as SolarCity heads for IPO | solar inverter manufacturers from australia and china | Scoop.it

SolarCity certainly seems to have found a winning CSI formula with commercial and residential sales. But its prospectus lists risk factors to investors, including the company's dependence on incentives, and its progress towards IPO is now under scrutiny by the SEC and the Inland Revenue Service."Our business currently depends on the availability of rebates, tax credits and other financial incentives. The expiration, elimination or reduction of these rebates, credits and incentives would adversely impact our business."If the Internal Revenue Service or the US Treasury Department makes additional determinations that the fair market value of our solar energy systems is materially lower than what we have claimed, we may have to pay significant amounts to our investment funds or to our fund investors and such determinations could have a material adverse effect on our business, financial condition and prospects."A SolarCity spokesman said that the company could not comment as the SEC registration means it is in a quiet period. But such controversy over funding for solar companies is something the industry can ill afford after last year's Solyndra debacle.

Jenal thinks those in the solar industry should be good citizens. "I actually think that we're supposed to be different. I understand those who maximise their profits. I understand that it's much of the way the world works. But I don't think the solar industry, which is about sustainability, should operate that way. It offends me and my sense of justice."
