Why Do Affluent Consumers Connect with Brands on Social Networks?

Why Do Affluent Consumers Connect with Brands on Social Networks? | SocBiz | Scoop.it

Luxury marketers take note, according to a February 2011 Affluence Collaborative survey, wealthy internet users connect with brands on social networks for significantly different reasons than the general population. The social networks they use to do so are different, too.

Among the general population, the main reason cited for connecting with brands on social networks was to receive deals and discounts. This result from the Affluence Collaborative survey backs up earlier research from several sources on why consumers follow brands on social sites.

But according to Affluence Collaborative, this was a much lower priority for the wealthy. Their top reasons for following brands were due to a preexisting affinity for and a desire to be kept informed about the brand. The least-cited reason mentioned by all groups surveyed was to be entertained, suggesting that social media marketers still need to provide fans with value, even if it isn’t directly in the form of a coupon or sale.

How to Maximize the Reach of Your Posts on Social Networks

How to Maximize the Reach of Your Posts on Social Networks | SocBiz | Scoop.it

This article and infographic was posted by Ted Nguyen for his blog.

Intro:

One of the most pressing questions whether you're new to social media or a social media maven is: What's the best way to post information or share content to optimize your reach

Compendium, a content marketing firm conducted a study of more than 200 companies to determine how social media professionals may optimize their engagement with both business-to-business-to-consumer conversations.

What they found is consistent with what Ted Nguyen has experienced and he has demonstrated that he clearly knows what he's doing

Here are some highlights:

"My experience in sharing more than 21,000 tweets and Facebook posts to my more than 82,000 Twitter followers and Facebook friends is consistent with the study’s findings"

.

**I recommend the hours between 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Pacific Time) or 1 to 4 p.m. (Eastern Time) are the best times for Twitter and Facebook to optimize social engagement engagement.

**I find that tweets shared earlier in the week do better than those sent later in the week. I also have discovered that Facebook posts do best Wednesday early afternoon.

**if you look at Ted's social shares, they run around the clock. he tries his best to engage with people in real time or near real time.

Why Curation is Now a Marketing Must!

Why Curation is Now a Marketing Must! | SocBiz | Scoop.it

This piece was written by Tatyana Meshcheryakova, while we've so many articles about curation,  you can always find something you didn't know or haven't thought of, hopefully this is no exception.

The author quotes from one of my trusted souces, Beth Kanter:

"Content curation is the process of sorting through the vast amounts of content on the web and presenting it in a meaningful and organized way around a specific theme. The work involves sifting, sorting, arranging, and publishing information. A content curator cherry picks the best content that is important and relevant to share with their community".

Here are some takeaways from Steve Rosenbaum who pretty much echos Beth Kanter, please visit Beth's blog for lots of great informatio on curation.

**Be Part of the Content Ecosystem not just a re-packager of it. Created, contributed, and collected — the three ‘c’s is a strong content mix that has a measurable impact.

**Follow a Schedule. Make sure to post at the same time each week.

**Embrace Multiple Platforms. Today content consumers get their information on the platform of their choosing.

**You should consider posting short bursts on Tumblr, images on Pinterest, video on YouTube, and community conversations on Facebook.

**Engage and Participate. Make sure you’re giving back by reading others and commenting on their posts.

7 Ways to Use Social Media to Make the World a Better Place | SocBiz | Scoop.it

Social media is like a big networking event, right? We all meet at the virtual water cooler and share stories, inspiration and resources during brief intermissions as we go about our days. We also have the opportunity to make the world a better place without leaving the comfort of our very own laptop or iPhone.
