Terry Hill, PhD's insight:
Since Robert Merton's essays years ago on "corporate drift", in which a company unknowingly drifts away from its mission or stated goals, an increasing emphasis has been on how to detect this drift, but also on specific identifying tactics and strategies that may cause it. External consultants I would argue, as external 'change agents', have the advantage of objectivity when hired to evaluate corporate strategies.

Two frontiers yet to conquer: non-sexual public nudity and outer space.

When we really think about it, why have most (but not all) humans come to associate the mere nude body in public areas (not museums of course!) with a host of adjectives: perverse, ugly, dirty, disgusting, immoral, sexy, deviant, depraved, indecent, abnormal, evil, kinky, base, and so on?
In contradistinction, practising nudists/naturists worldwide, as singles, couples and families with children, would never use these adjectives. They would say "We are born nude, so why blatant body modesty/rejection/denigration/punishment?" "Why does larger society immediately associate bring nude with sex?"  "Nude is natural, so why wear clothes and create an unnatural curiosity which contributes to moral decadence? Lawrence LAnger, in his book 'The Importance of Wearing Clothes states that "Man's unconscious desire to feel superior by covering his/her body with clothing, produced an unexpected result. Instead of reducing man's sexual desires, it actually increased them. Mankind, striving to rise above the call of the flesh, became one of the most erotic of all living creatures because of his/her clothing." Clothes can either inhibit or stimulate sexual desire, so it is interesting to hear from other academics like Aileen Goodson, PhD (Therapy, Nudity & Joy,1991 ) that female nudists are better adjusted [psychologically] than non-nudist females, that nudist/naturist children grow up to have healthier views of sexuality and body acceptance than non-naturist children, and that overall, naked communities promote therapy. "Generally speaking, nudists felt that nudism represents wholesome heterosexual attitudes and nonvoyeuristic, nonexhibitionistic tendencies. Some indicated it reduced interest in lewd pictures, voyeurism, exhibitionism and masturbation...and that Overall, more than one-third of both male and female nudists are convinced that nudism has contributed positively to their sexual happiness...and In marital adjustment, 90% rated their marital happiness as average or above..." (p335)
As found by W.S. Douglas Naturism: A New Dimension in Living, 2000) "The frailty of our commonly-held ideas of modesty comes sharply into focus in naturist living. Naturists find within themselves an instinctive sense of rightness guiding both thought and action. It may be that the hundreds of thousands of years that humans lived and socialized as a nude species has left some indelible effects on the human psyche. As a species born naked, we subsequently spend lifetimes attempting to adjust to all the confusion, conflicts, and perversions produced by clothing." (p.22)
Naturism is a lifestyle, not simply a weekend or holiday experience. Its association with efforts to sustain the planet, include creating a society which will not impose hardship and cruelty upon our children in a succession of thoughtful, humane and measured changes.
Clothes will of course stay, as they serve functions of protection and warmth, but the OPTION of wearing nothing at all, devoid of all those culturally contrived adjectives mentioned earlier - should be protected by law and encouraged. In Canada today, women can appear topless in public as men do (see revisions to the Criminal Code), which represents an important step forward to conquering the frontier of the body. One of the biggest hurdles is how the media makes money from the sexualized body (usually female). Religion's role in non-body acceptance will have to remain a topic for another day.
Terry Hill, PhD's insight:
We seldom take the time to consider how our bodies are still "frontiers", like outer space is. The impact of wearing clothes for example, for modesty purposes primarily, renders the human body a continuous object and  'mystery' , to be exploited sexually, socially, religiously, and economically. It cannot be appreciated and accepted for just what it is. Some gains towards nude living have been made, but are in their infancy still. It is estimated that about 50 million people practice the great benefits nude living, at home, at the beach, camping, or at a resort, in over 108 countries. And this number grows each year. But with a world population in the billions, there is a long way to go.

A longevity strategy is crucial for the challenge of the aging megatrend
Terry Hill, PhD's insight:
Strategic corporate planning should reflect the demographic shifts occurring across the world, including the bubble-burst in fertility looming due to the inverse relationship between fecundity and basic economic resources. Having more than 2 children will be unmanageable for most Catholic, Hindu, Muslim and Aboriginal families.
The now aging Baby Boomers cohort will increasingly add demands on Western businesses and social services. The "longevity strategy" should become a common Boardroom topic.
