Wow, this is really interesting! Is this where things are heading? Now we can have responsive content!

"Conventional responsive web design allows marketers to optimize a site's content and design across different devices," said Brian Powley, global president at iCrossing. "ResponsiveAi takes it one step further by responding directly to an individual consumer, and giving marketers the power to deliver the right message at the right moment in that customer's journey."

Myth #1: People read on the web - UX Myths

Myth #1: People read on the web - UX Myths | SocialKM | Scoop.it

People only read word-by-word on the web when they are really interested in the content. They usually skim the pages looking for highlighted keywords, meaningful headings, short paragraphs and scannable lists. Since they’re in a hurry to find the very piece of information they’re looking for, they’ll skip what’s irrelevant for them.

You can't escape the frenzy over "content creation" these days. Everyone's telling you to do it and just as many people are willing to do it for you! I find this trend interesting because it squarely contradicts the fact that people don't read on the web. This article highlights numerous studies that show just how little users read.

There are no clear-cut guidelines for choosing your brand's colors, but context is an essential consideration.

It's the feeling, mood, and image that your brand creates that factor into persuasion. Recognize that colors only come into play when they can be used to match a brand's desired personality (i.e., the use of white to communicate Apple's love of clean, simple design).

Without context, choosing one color over another doesn't make much sense, and there is very little evidence to support that 'orange' will universally make people purchase a product more often than 'silver'.

How the Human Brain Experiences Your Brand

Omar Elmessiri's curator insight, November 5, 2016 7:07 PM

I agree with Chris Boiman about how the human brain experiences a brand. There are five important elements your brain perceives a brand by: the first element is visual capture and transmission. We as humans are trained to always observe visual images better than another aspect we are capable of. For example, when a person sees the McDonalds logo and the big M with yellow and red colors. Our brains automatically transmits this information as being MacDonald’s. It takes a millisecond for our brain to react to the brand and know which brand is what. The second element is shape recognition which is an important aspect because this is when a human being is able to identify a certain brand based on what it looks like. For example, we all know that coco cola has white writing and a red background while Pepsi has a blue background with red colours. It makes it easier for human being to differentiate between brands.  The third element is visual mapping, which is essential because our brain communicates with colors better than plain black and white. It is likely that we as humans will remember a certain brand by its colors rather than just black and white. For example, we all know the Tim Horton’s logo is red and white which we recognize right away. However, if the same logo was white and black it is going to be harder to identity the logo or even not recognize it at all. The fourth element is memory matching which basically individuals recalls certain experiences that they had with the brand. For example, when a group of individuals talk about coffee, someone will likely say oh I buy coffee from Tim Hortons every day. They mentioned Tim Horton’s first because they had an amazing experience with the brand and there products. The fifth and final element is enrichment which is the final step in processing everything about a brand. This element is associated with products, slogans and locations of a certain brand. For example, the last time I went to Costco Peterborough I brought their hotdogs and it was the best time I ever brought hotdogs at Costco. With Costco providing an amazing service, this created a great brand experience for me.
