Did you catch Google's recent post on its webmaster blog regarding mobile website infrastructure and search results? I found it really interesting; Google announced changes to their algorithm which will favor sites with best-in-class mobile infrastructure; for once I don't think you'd find an SEO that begrudges the changes they are making.

Video Game Therapy Used To Help Treat Kids With Chronic Pain

Video Game Therapy Used To Help Treat Kids With Chronic Pain | Social Networking With Facebook | Scoop.it

The Children’s National Medical Center in Washington D.C. opened a new pain care complex this week which was built to introduce video games as a way to help young patients eliminate chronic pain. The games are specially designed and combined with Microsoft’s Kinect to help young patients improve their health without realizing it as games ask them to paint, play and exercise while doctors are on hand to analyze their range of motion.

Check out the video in the link. It shows how kids are using the intereactive programs and gives a glimpse of the potential of  what this new complex can achieve. The "pod beds" also look very interesting.

Céline Merchiers's curator insight, May 20, 2013 6:12 PM

This article shows an interesting combination of the hospitals services combined with the use of a special video game in a new pain care complex. This video game is specially designed and combined with Microsoft's Kinect to help young patients improve their health without realizing it while playing the game. The use of ICT in this case gives the patient the opportunity to perform a better range of motion and feeling a greater distraction from their pain.

Dead In The Water
Dead in the water indeed since your competitors are out there creating wiht social media, learning what works and building a following. Good luck catching up fast.

NOTHING happens all that fast in social media. You can create great campaigns that boost your social media 10x, but natural growth is SLOW and STEADY.

This means your social media strategy will need to DISRUPT to win and create trust at the same time. Those two ideas can be mutually exclusive so make sure to JUMP IN NOW or double your efforts now.

Rememer if you are not the lead sleddog the view is always the same :).

Marc Kneepkens's curator insight, June 13, 2013 12:53 AM

There's no way around it. Social Media are more important every day.

How Dogs Taught Me About Empathy

How Dogs Taught Me About Empathy | Social Networking With Facebook | Scoop.it

Professional dog trainer Annie Phenix writes about how lovings dogs helped her overcome a rough childhood.

There are a lot of animals in my life. My family includes four rescued dogs, one purebred German Shepherd, two quarter horse geldings, a host of familiar wildlife, and six donkeys. The donkeys are the most important because, for me, they serve as fat, hairy therapy machines. I’ve learned that most donkeys are curious about us and enjoy nothing more than to sit with a human friend in a pasture, receiving many indulgent pets. They love us even though we’ve dismissed them throughout the centuries as nothing more than beasts of burden. However, the burden they are most suited for is loosening up our emotional ones...

If an animal has helped you heal from an emotional wound, I would love to hear about your experiences. If you haven’t been healed by an animal yet, never fear: There is still time.

Brenda Robinson's curator insight, October 9, 2013 7:22 AM

We need to teach children in schools when they are young that all animals deserve our love, respect and protection and how animals help us in so many ways and that we must treat others as we want to be treated. It appears many kids were never taught these lessons to live by.

Social SEO: Beginners & Advanced

Social SEO: Beginners & Advanced | Social Networking With Facebook | Scoop.it

Make SEO and social media work for you by YOU taking control of it!

You need to learn how. Anyone can follow instructions and implement a campaign that someone else outlines.  You need to learn why social media works when done properly.  Discover what really works, in the real world, for small businesses just like you.

When you understand what works and why, you’ll be able to implement campaigns that drive traffic and sales all by yourself.  Without paying hundreds or thousands of dollars each month to a “social media manager”.
