Facebook Adds New Global Brand Pages

Facebook Adds New Global Brand Pages | Social Mind | Scoop.it

Facebook Global Brand Pages is a new structure for brand pages that allow global brands to maintain a single fan page with localized experiences for users in different countries. This is one of the biggest innovations to brand pages since timeline. Brands can now have the ability to communicate with customers all over the world.

global pages have a unified Like and People Talking About this count, but the language, profile image, cover photo, posts and tabs can differ by region. Users who visit a global page are automatically directed to the version specific to their region, but they can access any regional or global page through a drop-down menu. The global pages structure will include localized pages for specific markets and a default page for all other markets.

How to Convert Facebook Fans into ‘Superfans’

How to Convert Facebook Fans into ‘Superfans’ | Social Mind | Scoop.it
‘Likehunting’ is now a common derogatory term within the sphere of social media marketing.

However, I think most social media managers have to admit that they, at some point, have regarded a boost in likes gained through a competition as an indicator of brand loyalty or success. The recent cry-out following the changes in Facebook’s Edgerank algorithmhas helped social media managers focus on what really will make brands gain value from social media: To value your existing Facebook fans by providing them with relevant content and thereby making them grow into becoming Superfans over time.

9 tips for being seen and heard through the noise of Facebook

9 tips for being seen and heard through the noise of Facebook | Social Mind | Scoop.it
Facebook is constantly iterating so it can be tough to stay on top of trends. That’s why resources like Social Fresh are essential to anyone in a social marketing role.

1. Decide which content is best -- Sometimes a photo will do and others its all about the written word.

2. Tag your content -- When you post ANYTHING on Facebook that mentions a person, place or thing with a Facebook page, tag them.

3. Schedule, when appropriate -- The lifespan of a Facebook post is near 23 hours (compared to Twitter which is less than hour). So, maximize the amount of eyeballs that will see your content.

4. Collaborate with your team -- Two virtual heads are better than one, so collaborate to produce the most engaging content possible.

5. Sometimes you have no idea what will go “viral”.

6. Get your team on board to share that link -- This isn’t permission to create your own personal Spamalot, but when multiple people share a link it creates a related news feed, thus increasing your chances to be seen.

7. Promote your post.

8. Remember the two things people want most.

There are really only two reasons most people “like” brand pages:

#1 They are already a fan of in real life and want to show their affiliation;

#2 To get deals and discounts.

9. Plan a realtime, live event -- One of the great ways to engage your audience is to create content that has a longer life in your stream than a standard post.

9 Tips for Running Successful Facebook Contests

9 Tips for Running Successful Facebook Contests | Social Mind | Scoop.it
Facebook Contests: Learn how to run a successful Facebook contest aimed at your target audience and gain information about your customers.

Have you considered using a Facebook contest? These days, it seems like just about everyone is giving away something on Facebook.

Here are 9 tips for making Facebook contests more successful:

#1: Determine Whether You Really Need a Contest -- The bottom line: have specific goals and don’t run a contest just because everyone else is doing it!

#2: Decide Which Type of Facebook Contest Will Help You Reach Your Goals -- sweepstakes, essay, photo or video?

#3: Familiarize Yourself With Facebook’s Policies and Guidelines -- When it comes to contests, Facebook has an extensive list of “do’s and don’ts.”

#4: Choose a Third-Party App to Run the Contest -- Facebook explicitly requires businesses to run a contest on a third-party application, and it’s nearly impossible to meet all of their other promotions guidelines without one.

#5: Pick a Relevant Prize -- Remember that the value of your prize should reflect the effort participants need to make to enter.

#6: Make it easy to enter

#7: Tell the World About Your Contest

#8: Consider Facebook Ads to increase the reach of your promotion.

#9: Finally: Don’t Forget to Follow Up!

The Most Liked Brand Posts On Facebook

The Most Liked Brand Posts On Facebook | Social Mind | Scoop.it

The July news cycle may have been all about Olympic spirit, heat waves and 4th of July national pride, but you wouldn’t know it judging from the most Liked posts by Brands on Facebook.

It turns out that America’s favorite hero last month wasn’t an Olympian. It was UPS driver Kenneth Donleycott who found a missing Alzheimer’s patient. With 878,313 Likes, this was one of the most Liked posts of all time.

Facebook also Likes pictures. 9 of the top 10 posts were photo-based. This is in line with Track Social’s recently released white paper findings showing significantly higher engagement across the board when brands post photos rather than videos or statuses.

New Free Tool That Shows Fans Reached On Facebook Page Posts

New Free Tool That Shows Fans Reached On Facebook Page Posts | Social Mind | Scoop.it

Excerpted from review article on TechCrunch:

"Pagelever, a popular Facebook analytics company, released a new, free tool called Minilytics today. The company claims it is the first tool that lets users measure how many fans see their posts on Facebook pages.

Two weeks ago Facebook released a new metric in the API that counts fan’s post-views.

Once the new metric was released, Pagelever co-founder Jeff Widman and his team built the free tool measuring how many fans see a Facebook post, as well as answering other questions for users, like when are the best times to post, best types of posts and “who are my fans.”

Widman says the tool lets users see which page views are from fans who have already “liked” the page, rather than combining fan views with those that come from viewers who land on the page but aren’t fans.

He notes that this data is particularly important for pages that are growing quickly or that have large numbers of targeted ads..."
