Indians are not Stupid... Just three years ago, grid-connected solar power in the country was less than 12 MW. By the end of 2011, India had acquired 190 MW in solar power generation capacity. By M...
Alain Bertrand's insight:

The coal option may be a cheap one but comparatively to sustainable energy, expenses linked to Health, Environment and Social Integration will ONLY get higher levels and be taken from the consumers, from us, from our kids and their kids, for decades and centuries to come… And we are not even talking about forced death toll that destroys families and wipe out communities!

That isn't fair !

The Rise Of Visual Social Media

The Rise Of Visual Social Media | Social Media through the Islanders' Prism | Scoop.it

"Social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest have ushered in visual marketing as the breakout trend for 2012.

Search engines now rank content based on social conversations and sharing, not just websites alone. Brands can use visual content on their social media to increase engagement and inspire sharing and viral marketing. The rise of platforms like Pinterest and Instagram, and Facebook's multimillion-dollar acquisition of the latter, shows how visual content is becoming an increasingly important force for communication online".

How Social Media Can Affect Your B2B Lead Generation [INFOGRAPHIC] | Business 2 Community | Social Media through the Islanders' Prism | Scoop.it

Many people think that b2b lead generation is leagues away in terms of helpfulness with regards to social media.

With this infographic that has given to use by Online MBA, there has been a recorded 66% percent of online users that are connected to at least one social media platform on the World Wide Web.

The use of these websites have steadily increased over the past 10 years in either personal or business reasons.

But the question is, who are the 66%?

Accumulating Fans on Facebook Is Useless: Unless You Have Got What They Are Specifically Looking For

Accumulating Fans on Facebook Is Useless: Unless You Have Got What They Are Specifically Looking For | Social Media through the Islanders' Prism | Scoop.it

Size never matters, Quality does... Always! It's better to have 100 advocates only, than have 100,000 fans or friends.

This has been my credo ever since I started Social Media :

Robin Good: IBM Enterprise Marketing VP Yuchun Lee hits the Facebook marketing nail right on its head and finally say what most website owners and web marketing consultants often forget or do not even realize: "The idea that all Facebook fans are created equal is a myth perpetuated by many chief marketing officers I meet.

The confusion it creates is one reason why social-media channels have yet to achieve the same levels of success as their mobile counterparts.

These marketers are confusing correlation with causality.

They believe enticing a person to become a Facebook fan will magically make that individual more likely to spend more on their brand.

What comes next is a campaign designed solely to pull in new fans. Big mistake.

Think of it this way.

When the sun is out on a summer's day, people like to eat ice cream. There is a correlation between the two; when you pass an ice cream shop in July and August, you always see a line of customers out front. But ice cream does not cause the sun to come out, any more than being a Facebook fan causes a person to bring out her wallet, buy your products and services and become a passionate brand advocate."

Short but right. Recommended reading. 8/10

Facebook Search Will Be Better than Google - Advertising Age

Facebook Search Will Be Better than Google - Advertising Age | Social Media through the Islanders' Prism | Scoop.it

Will Facebook's search engine be better than Google's anytime soon?

On the whole, no way.

Then is Facebook spending mega dollars to develop an algorithm that needs constant upgrading – one that will almost certainly be inferior to the search engines we already have – all for naught?

Here's the thing: a Facebook search product doesn't need to be better.

Or, more accurately, it doesn't need to be better all the time.

If a Facebook search returns a better result once in twenty searches, it will be a success.

Why Google+ Is a Ghost Town [Infographic]

Why Google+ Is a Ghost Town [Infographic] | Social Media through the Islanders' Prism | Scoop.it

An infographic details that Google+ has low activity compared to other networks.

There’s a lot of conflicting data out there about Google+. A few studies over the past few months have portrayed the fledgling social network as relatively moribund, but another recent report from Experian Hitwise says visits to the network are growing substantially, hitting 34.9 million for the week ended Aug. 4 compared to 21.9 million visits for the week ended July 21 — a 59% jump in two weeks.

Whether the network is thriving or not, this research from Umpf, a UK-based social media firm, shows that activity on G+ is low compared to other social networks.
