It is important to chose which will be the most effective for you, and then spend your focused time and money resources in those areas.

3Common Mistakes to Avoid with Your Social Media Marketing

3Common Mistakes to Avoid with Your Social Media Marketing | Social Media Pillars | Scoop.it

"The real premise of social media is adding value with content that engages your customers which inspires, educates, informs and maybe even entertains. This means forgetting about 'you' and thinking about 'them'"

"Getting social is about making connections that would lead to further actions. That includes getting to know and listening to the views of your guests."

"If you would not say the same thing in a board meeting as you would in a social party, why then would you auto post the same message across different social media platforms?"

Jessica Pospeck's insight:

This article has some basic concepts that users of social media should give merit to. While negative comments are never wanted, they are a fact of doing business and participating online. Do not delete them…that is only going to lead to bigger issues. Instead, turn this unfortunate event into an opportunity. Show this upset customer (and your other follows) that you care about and value them! Take the time to write a well thought out and appropriate reply online, then follow up and fix the issue. The disgruntled poster may even follow-up with a post saying how well your company fixed their concern.

While it’s okay to post some of your content on all of your social media platforms, strive to have different content for each. A follower will see no use in being a friend, follower, and a contact when you post the same information over and over to each of your platforms. Instead, give them a reason to connect with you through different platforms. Further, you may be trying to reach different targets with different social platforms. Keep that in mind when posting and be sure to provide content that is specifically relevant and useful to them.

Internet marketing is all about the two way flow of communication; it is permission based, rather than interruption based (as traditional marketing, like TV and radio, are). Give people a reason to connect, follow, and engage with your company. When you build a tribe like this, they’ll be happy to receive content from you. Further, what you share is going to have a more effective reach and be more efficient when it comes to your goals and objectives (e.g. generating sales leads).
