Measuring the Impact of a LinkedIn Status Message

Measuring the Impact of a LinkedIn Status Message | Social Media Metrics | Scoop.it

With the recent changes on LinkedIn it has become more difficult to see the impact of your status messages on your connections, audience and the associated engagement. Back in November LinkedIn removed the option to see historic activities on profiles but you can still see this on some mobile applications, interestingly.

Status has always been a great way to remind people what you are up to, the types of client you work with, the markets you operate in and the values you share. You can read more in this old blog post (link to how to do a status message on LinkedIn blog) but it is less easy to see what has happened with your status messages and if they worked for you or your network.

The content, style and richness of the status message is key in getting good results but that’s for another day.

This article explains three main ways to measure your status impact on LinkedIn.  It explains how LinkedIn has become increasingly difficult to track how effective your profile and status messages are. They also explain how status messages on LinkedIn are a great way to stay relevant and in the minds of your connections on LinkedIn.

Creating metrics to measure the effectiveness of all social media posts is important in today's society.  This is especially true for businesses whose reputation is at stake and who pay employees to monitor social media. LinkedIn is a pivotal tool in the social media world that allows users to access a new way to network professionally. The impact of a “strong” status on LinkedIn can exponentially help a user gain more recognition and a larger following as well as highlight their strengths in their established industry. LinkedIn is an interesting phenomenon; the positive impact a few words on a person’s page can create is something that has helped to redefine the networking game. LinkedIn offers tools that allow a user to measure their impact on the social media platform. The most visual tool available to users is a heat map that indicates different statistics like views, comments, and likes through a color-coded map. Using the tools offered allows a user to learn how to have a positive impact and keep track of their most influential moments on LinkedIn. LinkedIn permits opportunities to be created that other social media platforms have not yet perfected. The impact that LinkedIn has had on the professional world is enormous and will continue to flourish throughout the coming years.

Audiences are faced with content at all hours of the day across an increasing number of platforms. The article suggests that marketers need to keep it simple in order to gain consumer engagement on Facebook. Short messages and use of emojis are examples to quickly transmit a message before the viewer becomes disinterested.
