Honestly, I do not think that it is really the case when you use social media to contact people which you know personally and communicate to outside the web as well.

Overinvesting emotionally is the realm of a space that gives others an opportunity to invade your life in ways unprecedented. it is cyber bully heaven and just like school kids, there are those who simply don't know how to disengage, are lonely or simply already sad and unable to discern when another persons problems become their own. I deactivated facebook due to the lack of basic humanity even in people I knew, the trolling is in horrific proportions and the self righteous area quick to put their spin on anyones post, with the justification that if you post it, it is public and therefore up for a slam.

If there is a political post, this is most certainly the case as it is not just an opinion but one that seeks to sway others, if however the post is of a personal nature, it seems there is no allowance for a lack of information regarding the life of another, their feelings or their needs. in anonymity or distance as always, the internet finds the worst in a persons nature and manages to reveal it. block , deactivate, have only friends you know are repeated advice offered but often not utilized in a world where likes have beome a way of validating self.

well ,,, i had a family site on fb, and found after a year or so, my family rarely texted me as they did before, even my birthday wishes from them became an fb message along with everyone else, i thought that was pretty sad from a fairly close family. in chitter chatter the general information you are not told gets passed over as,... i posted it on fb. so.. yes i think it can have a detrimental effect even on family and friend oriented pages
