What Would Happen If Google Really Did Kill ... - Marketing Land

What Would Happen If Google Really Did Kill ... - Marketing Land | Social Media Branding | Scoop.it
Rumors are that Google might be planning to kill Google+ or at least put it into a Walking Dead-like “zombie” mode, as TechCrunch characterizes it — and something Google denies. There are some good reasons for Google ...
Monique Moore's insight:

I wanted to read this article because we were talking about this in class the other day. This article basically is saying that people prefer apps and sites that focus on one thing. So if Google kills Google+, they might potentially break it up into individual apps or sites that each do one thing. Personally, I have Google+ but never use it. I access my email, YouTube, and other features separately and never go through my Google+ page. Google+ was meant to be competition for Facebook, but it never really took off. I never hear of my family, friends, or acquaintances using or liking Google+. I can see why Google needs to make a change. Maybe changing its focus or target market, separating the features, or a design makeover could make the site more popular.

Use Social Media to Boost Your Small Business | Social Media Today

Use Social Media to Boost Your Small Business | Social Media Today | Social Media Branding | Scoop.it
Even after everything is in place, you may not see big results right away. Don’t let that worry you.
Monique Moore's insight:

This article is important to read for anyone who wants to start their own business. If you are one of these people, you have to get your brand on social media.. like yesterday. This article gives you concise steps and advice to using social media to promote your business and use it to your advantage. The first step is to know your audience, which I think is the most important step. Find out who they are - what they think, how they think, their interests, their lifestyles, where they live, etc. This will help you know what to post and when to post it. The second step is to use multiple sites, like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, LinkedIn, etc., according to who your audience is. The third step is to use a social media manager, such as HootSuite, to keep your accounts in order and consistent. The fourth step is to post visual content, which people enjoy and engage with more. The fifth step is to engage with your audience and build a relationship with them. The sixth step is to commit to social media and post often. The seventh and final step is to be patient because building your presence will take time. Social media is the beacon of communicating a brand’s message in today’s world. Building a strong presence across many platforms will help your small business grow and flourish instead of getting lost in the crowd.

Earth Day and Social Media | Social Media Today

Earth Day and Social Media | Social Media Today | Social Media Branding | Scoop.it
This Earth Day, let's look at some of the amazing things social media is doing for the world.
Monique Moore's insight:

This author witnessed Twitter blow up with posts about Earth Day. This made her think about all the positive things social media can do. Social media gets trash-talked a lot these days. I appreciate that this author took the time to talk about why it's so great. I love social media and think it can be used in positive ways in all aspects of your life. Social media can greatly improve the awareness and fundraising for a good cause, such as foundations, charities, or overall world/national issues. The author also talks about how social media is the news for a lot of people. I definitely agree with this because Twitter always updates me with the latest news from all over the world, which I love about the app. Social media also helps people keep in touch with others that otherwise might be hard to reach due to distance, scheduling, etc. I find this important because I have family and friends around the world. Social media is also used as a relaxation tool that people can enjoy with entertainment and positive stories. Overall, I love social media and am glad it's as popular as it most of the time. It does have its downfalls, but the positives definitely outweigh them.
