Over a decade ago I started using impact mantras in community projects.  Here Guy K. shares it's good for companies too.  So why not social innovation and entrepreneurship?

 

Think about us, we are society: Impact Mantras matter most.  People don't care what a company's bland, internal mission statement is, and why should they--mission statements are typically worthless wordsmithing.

 

We care about the externalities companies intend--the social impacts that should come out of any organization, regardless their mission statement.

 

And so should you if you care a whit about social innovation performance.

One error with big thinking approaches to system design and policy making (whether we're talking social impact investing or pure wealth management) is that it is often led by people with little to no experience in the actual doing of it.  Those doing it are mostly too busy to theorize about it, or simply don't care to do so.  

 

A persistent reason good social impacts fail to scale is because of tacit agreement amongst investors not to double up even if "it works in practice, but we can't explain it in theory"
