9 Facts About Quantum Computing That Will Melt Your Mind

9 Facts About Quantum Computing That Will Melt Your Mind | Un-leadership | Scoop.it

Quantum computers aren't for browsing the Internet, checking email, or running standard software.

Instead, they rely on the underpinnings of quantum mechanics, a branch of physics that's defied conventional understanding for almost 100 years. It involves manipulating individual particles to solve previously unsolvable problems.

Dismantling hierarchies

Dismantling hierarchies | Un-leadership | Scoop.it
Can organizations still function if we dismantle hierarchies? In the social imperative, Jay Cross asked me how can organizations restructure in order to deal with complexity.

Sean Spence's curator insight, September 10, 2013 8:26 PM

Working with an organisation that is non-hierarchical I've found that a glass ceiling (on gender but also resulting from other biases) doesn't emerge. Therefore the pathway to being 'CEO' is much more open. Of course in any human system 'in' and 'out' groups can emerge around various factors but in a distributed, multi-nodal organisation the value set that creates 'in' or 'out' is more likely to be oriented around shared values other than gender.

For each person in a 'constellation' networked organisation, you have the option of becoming the 'go-to person' around an ability, a skill or a connectedness, that enables influence, reward, development in ways that hierarchical organisations (where 'control' is the main go-to criterion) find impossible or frightening.

This makes non-hierarchical organisations more resilient and more likely to simply get better at doing what is needed. They are also more likely to provide career pathways that suit how humans actually grow through life.

... in my view!

Here's What The Marketing Organization Of The Future Should Look Like

Here's What The Marketing Organization Of The Future Should Look Like | Un-leadership | Scoop.it
2020 isn’t the future; the future is now. Every day, the look and feel and function of marketing is transforming radically—and so the means to keep up must be transforming too.

Billy R Bennett's curator insight, October 6, 2013 10:07 PM

How insightful is this article?

Non-negotiable characteristics of the 2020 marketing organization: a goal of business growth; a clear purpose; complete internal alignment of functional areas; clearly defined roles and responsibilities of each individual; research centers and data-informed efforts; an amalgam of agency partners as well as an in-house agency-like team; cross-platform social-media engagement; a strong CMO-CEO connection.

You would think that "A goal of business growth, A clear purpose, complete internal alignment of functional areas and clearly defined roles and responsibilities..." need not be mentioned. However, the insightfulness of the article is just this - in today's focus on big data and social engagement - none of this has value without the first four  non-negotiable must haves.
