As a leader of a team, one of the most important skills you need is the ability to effectively relate to other people and get the best out of them.

To do this it is important to understand your own style and preferences when you communicate with others and how this impacts on them. You also need to be able to recognise the styles of others.

Psychologist Dr W Moulton-Marston identified four basic characteristics that people tend to display more or less of. From his work 4 social styles have been identified: Expressive, Amiable, Driver and Analyst.
