Increases in Television Money Boost College Football Coaching Salaries

Increases in Television Money Boost College Football Coaching Salaries | SM 101 #2 | Scoop.it
Image by Getty Images via @daylife As reported in today's USA Today: - Incoming football coaches at major college programs will be paid nearly 35% more in 2012 compared to their 2011 predecessors; - Average pay for all head coaches in Division I Football...
Quade Foust's insight:

I learned that with the increase with televison exsposure that colleges are now having to pay their coaches more than ever.  They are having to pay them to stay and not leave for better salaries at the National level.  I found it interesting in how tv exsposure and coaching salary had a corallation.  I would have guessed that the colleges would have used the revenue toward another approach.  I selected this article because I found the title of the article interesting and I wanted to know what the corallation was between tv exsposure and coaching salaries was.  This information will help me if I were looking for a college football coaching job or if I were determing the pay of my coach.

Mike Rice Must Be Fired for Abusive Coaching Tactics at Rutgers University

Mike Rice Must Be Fired for Abusive Coaching Tactics at Rutgers University | SM 101 #2 | Scoop.it
Mike Rice, Rutgers men's basketball coach for now...but likely not for long I've heard of the Girls Gone Wild film series, but I've never seen a Coaches Gone Wild video until today.
Quade Foust's insight:

I learned that different coaches have different styles of coaching and that some coaches lack the understanding of a boundary between what they can say and do toward players.  Head coach of the men's basketball team at Rutgers University was verbally and phyically abusing his players.  I found it interesting that the Athelitic Director did not give a harsher punishment when he first discovered of how Mike Rice was acting.  I selected this article because it provided me with insight in how a college handles their athletic staff when something of this nature occurs.  The information that I gathered from this article gives me an idea of what I need to be aware of for the players in making sure that a coach is not to hard on them if I were to work in a higher position.

Coaching Carousel Sheds Light On Systemic Failure In College Athletics Management

Coaching Carousel Sheds Light On Systemic Failure In College Athletics Management | SM 101 #2 | Scoop.it
A year-and-a-half ago, former Auburn football head coach Gene Chizik was celebrated at the White House for winning a BCS National Championship.
Quade Foust's insight:

I learned that coaching is harder than it appears to spectators.  A lot of time and preperation goes into preparing for success.  As I read on I realized that the circumstances that a coach is placed into can affect how well they do.  I found it interesting that some colleges expect success immediately for instances at the University of Colorado where they fired their head coach after two years in comparison to Rutgers University was passionate and allowed their head coach to get the right personnel on the team.  I picked this article because I was interested in how certain coaching systems are set up for success and how colleges react to the results of these coaches.  The information that I gathered from this article has shed light on me to be patient and not to rush things.  Good things come to those who wait.
