What can be seen as the footprints of humanity; that is to say, History, is always hiding a story to be told especially when one its most significant topics that has been in the core of society is involved. This topic, which was a major issue in different parts of the world and which according to Jamie Frater still thrive in society today, now, present us some shocking facts that are unknown or strange for many people and that also may make you think twice before discriminating another human being just for a pigmentation in his skin. Of course, I am referring to Slavery. One of the facts that really called my attention was where and how slavery in the U.S. started. A bad thing observed in the reading passage was how this article, in fact number ten (10), covers the big guiltiness and role the white man play in slavery by saying that basically everything started because of Anthony Johnson, a black man, who persuaded to slave another man (also black) in the state of Virginia in 1654. Another point to highlight is the relationship between the Bible and slavery and how this so popular religious book do not forbid slavery against another human. As far as I see it, this somehow goes against the claim that “All men are created equal”. However, slavery at that time also brought a new way of dealing with cotton in 1793 when Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin (a device for processing raw cotton). Whether god or bad, slavery period was and still is (in Libya for example) a topic that put a lot things to discuss, to think and reflect about from different sides or point of views, this article show us just some of the facts that took a great part in slavery at that period. So is you´d like to take a look just in case you want to know a bit more about this facts and how “Slavery Today” still exist as stated in this article here is the link for you to interact with the reading. http://listverse.com/2009/01/14/10-fascinating-facts-about-slavery/
