These are HUGE mistakes! Your thumbnail and headline are the only things that are going to make someone want to watch your video. Using whatever random screengrab that YouTube picks for you is going to make you lose out on viewers. Instead, use an image you create (or choose from the YT thumbnails if there is a great one) that’s more intriguing and add some text to make it stand out. As far as captions are concerned, you don't want to lose out on the entire hard-of-hearing community as prospects. On top of that, there's going to be several occasions where your hearing audiences would rather watch the video on mute with subtitles. Don't leave it up to YouTube's auto-captioning.
