One wonders why Google simply don't discount the links they already deem to be “bad”? Why the need for the webmaster to jump through hoops? The webmaster is still left to guess which links are “bad”, of course.

Not only is it difficult working out the links that may be a problem, it can be difficult getting a view of the entire link graph. There are various third party tools, including Google’s own Webmaster Central, but they aren’t exhaustive

Panda Algorithm Update Confirmed By Google, Just After EMD Algorithm Update...

Google has confirmed that they released a Panda algorithm update on Thursday, September 27th – this would be the 20th Panda update, so SearchEngineLand has dubbed it Panda 20.

Google confirmed that this new update isn’t just a data refresh but an algorithm update. Google told us this “affects about 2.4% of English queries to a degree that a regular user might notice.”

Please note that this is a fairly major Panda update AND it is still rolling out.

Yesterday, Matt Cutts of Google announced on Twitter that Google has officially updated the page layout algorithm that it launched in January of this year. This is the first official and confirmed update of this algorithm but I do not believe this is the first time they actually ran an update on this algorithm. I believe they ran updates and refreshes to the page layout algorithm before but haven't told us. Google has been in a telling mood and told us about this data refresh.
