STATS X-Info Data offers a combination of many different statistics. X-Info for Major League Baseball offers Pitch type, location, and velocity, Distance and direction for every batted ball, Defense positioning, Fielding skill, and Batter hot zones. NFL and College Football X-Info offers Offense formations, Incompletion details, Protection time, Yards after contact, Play direction, Defensive blitz, Quarterback alignment, Defensive targets, Burned defenders, and the Direction of each play.

In one post I did back in April about the Latham R package for baseball statistics I speculated on how baseball was poised to move from Moneyball style predictive analytics to real-time descriptive stats by showing strike zone heat maps overlaying TV images of batters swinging away. Even with the technology in today's sports you still need the same amount of people you did when it was just paper and pencil. The reason behind this is because you still need them to input the information into the computers
