While I do believe these apps could use a bit more work and cost a little less I am happy to see technology in special education classrooms. In many cases children with special needs cam work better with computers than they do with people.

These are very helpful guides for a student or adult who is Blind or Low Vision and would benefit from the braille or tactile guidance while learning to use an iPad or iOS device.

"Readers will get a clearer sense of how to find icons and elements on the screen, as well as how to manipulate and interact with them."

I also recommend the app VO Starter, for individuals who want to learn how to use the built-in VoiceOver, as VoiceOver and the app guide them through step by step lessons:

This is still the best app I recommend often for text to speech for Bookshare books, scanned documents/ handouts/ worksheets, newspapers and articles from the web, and more. Excellent features for assistance with reading!

Voice Dream Reader version 2.8 is out! It's a big release with many new features like Pronunciation Dictionary and Configurable Navigation which are more advanced than any text-to-speech reader in the market.
