A Classical Education: Back to the Future | Secondary Student Achievement | Scoop.it
Three arguments for a return to a classical education, and one appreciation for a Classical one. (@Top5DOA I disagree. I went to a liberal arts college and am unabashedly brainwashed.

Marie Vans's curator insight, February 3, 2015 10:29 AM

Interesting, high-level article on how libraries are becoming places of  collaborative learning and the use of technology in this type of learning. I think this is important for kids especially in light of the loss of numerous school librarians and to help schools prepare kids for a future in STEAM. Unfortunately, in many cases, school districts are  forcing technology into classrooms more for the sake of having the technology rather than putting some thought into how this technology supports learning.  Librarians need to develop programs that use tools that are appropriate to the learning objectives whether they are  print or electronic.

iPads in Primary Education: Apps for Computer Science

iPads in Primary Education: Apps for Computer Science | Secondary Student Achievement | Scoop.it

"As part of the proposed new draft primary curriculum for ICT, there is a significant emphasis on computer science. Below I've included a selection of apps which can be used in both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. The apps included range from basic skills in coding a Beebot to more advanced skills in coding games and simulations in apps such as Hopscotch and Codea.

I've also included some other useful 'ICT' apps, which can be used to develop pupil's typing skills and Spreadsheet skills."
