Great Second Life Destinations: Lick Sim Design's Asian Fusion - Oyster Bay

Great Second Life Destinations: Lick Sim Design's Asian Fusion - Oyster Bay | Second Life Destinations | Scoop.it

Sera Bellic scores yet again at Asia Fusion, a gorgeous construction of Asian-themed botanical and architectural design elements with just a touch of fun elements such as the panda family set among bamboo groves. I found the interior of the tea houses with realistic sushi sets very delicious and inviting, and perfect for Springtime photography shots.

Asian Fusion - Oyster Bay - Second Life

Asian Fusion - Oyster Bay - Second Life | Second Life Destinations | Scoop.it
My friend, Sera Bellic, has been at it again and this is her latest creation.  She writes in the land description, "'Asian Fusion' Country in the Orient. a picturesque sim with a collection of different Asian cultures. A touch of old and new merged together on one sim. Explore, take pictures or just hang out."…

Sera’s Lost World  LICK - Oyster Bay in Second Life

Sera’s Lost World  LICK - Oyster Bay in Second Life | Second Life Destinations | Scoop.it

It is outside, beneath the waves, which perhaps holds the attention the most. Fish flicker and gleam in the rays of the sun as they break through the sea above, casting rays of light down towards the sandy floor. The majestic rays swim singly or in pairs, “wings” rising and falling almost hypnotically, while sharks also patrol, also individually or in pairs.  Between they is plenty of room to swim or walk. For those who prefer, there is a mini-sub rezzer (be aware that the sub will appear and then move overhead, so you may have to cam up to find it), which adds a little additional fun to visits.

A World of Fantasy at WeeVille – Second Life

A World of Fantasy at WeeVille – Second Life | Second Life Destinations | Scoop.it

A very romantic and artful statue welcomes the traveler at the WeeVille arrival platform. A large wall with a rustic oak door protects a forlorn village made up of roundish houses that look like they dropped right out of the Tolkien saga. Might these be Hobbits minding their business over there?

WeeVille Second life

WeeVille Second life | Second Life Destinations | Scoop.it
These 15 shots are from the "Weeville" build located on the "Oyster Bay" sim.  This is another of the fine builds from the imagination of the multi-talented Sera Bellic.  The land description reads, "Welcome to WeeVille,  My first Fantasy sim and hopefully not my last. I hope you enjoy visiting as much as I enjoyed…

Lick Sim Designs periodically change up their scenery and right now they have a more whimsical look to their sim.   When entering Weeville you will see hobbit type homes in the side of the hill, then travel up the hill to lovely fields with magical plants, giant chicks and candy eggs, strange buildings, cutsie fantasy creatures, and various pose and seating areas.  Be sure to also enter the building structure on posts in the water for additional posing spots.

Byrd Island at Oyster Bay - Great Second Life Destinations

Byrd Island at Oyster Bay - Great Second Life Destinations | Second Life Destinations | Scoop.it
Lick Sim Designs has another excellent build which you need to see before Second Life's summer season ends. Byrd Island at Oyster Bay is a fog enshrouded island that has, quite literally, been taken over by flocks of birds. I particularly liked the pigeons which invaded the well appointed living room in the large farm house in the center of the island.

LICK Sim Designs - Byrd Island, Oyster Bay - Second life | Second Life Destinations | Scoop.it

Perusing my way through the Destination Guide, I came upon Byrd Island. It sounded intriguing so I went to see for myself.

The land description reads, “Take a step back in time to explore this once inhabited island. The Light house keeper and his family left the island never to return. Could it have been the birds, or something else? Byrd Island is now open for tours.” Indeed, the island was empty of inhabitants, other than the multitude of birds.

Byrd Island in Second Life

Byrd Island in Second Life | Second Life Destinations | Scoop.it

The homestead region of Oyster Bay is a regular stopping-off point on my rounds of Second Life. This is because Sera Bellic, the region holder, uses it to demonstrate her region design skills, changing the layout several times a year, thus periodically offering all of us something to new visit. This is currently the case with the regions latest iteration as Byrd Island, which Caitlyn and hopped over to explore as the start of our weekend. Visitors arrive at the island’s ferry pier, located on the island’s north-west side, where birds circle overhead, the first indications of how – spelling allowing – the island may have come by its name. Herons patrol the sandy tongue of land on which it sits, the only low-lying point of the entire island, which otherwise stands as a 30-metre high tower of rock rising from the surrounding mist-laden sea.

Byrd Island - Oyster Bay - Second life

Byrd Island - Oyster Bay - Second life | Second Life Destinations | Scoop.it

The moment you are standing alone on the dock, and look up, the mystery begins.Byrd Island is shrouded in mist and you hear nothing but the cry of gulls and a relentless, pounding surf. At the top, the searching beam of the lighthouse strains to penetrate the thick fog and warn sailors off the rocks below.

Sera Bellick – owner and mastermind of Lick Sims – treats us to the mystery of “what has happened to the residents of Byrd Island? “

LICK SIM DESIGNS  – Heaven or Hell - Second life

LICK SIM DESIGNS  – Heaven or Hell - Second life | Second Life Destinations | Scoop.it

What a title (!). Actually this post is not what you think it might be about. “Heaven or Hell” is a sim in Second Life. I found it browsing through the SL destination guide under the tag “Art”. The descrpiton doesn’t say that much “Has your fate been decided for you or will you decide? Choose wisely, choose carefully. And remember you can always check out but you can never leave. Turn your sounds up and get ready for the ride.”

A little Asian Fusion - Oyster Bay - Second life

A little Asian Fusion - Oyster Bay - Second life | Second Life Destinations | Scoop.it

Sera Bellic's LICK sim design at Oyster Bay is an ever-changing landscape, rotating every couple of months to a new build. The designs range from whimsical to extremely photogenic, so it's always a treat to drop in when changes have been made to see what new thing is in store. Like many, I was intrigued by the title "Asian Fusion" when I saw the sim highlighted in the SL Destination Guide at the end of April 2017. I've been on a little bit of an Asian kick recently, no doubt inspired by a visit last fall to the Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens in San Marina, CA where I fell in love with their Japanese Garden.

LICK sim designs - Asian Fusion , Oyster Bay - Second Life | Second Life Destinations | Scoop.it

We received word that Sera Bellic had given her Homeland region of Oyster Bay a further make-over some 24 hours before it appeared in the Destination Guide Highlights for Friday, April 28th – and I was immediately intrigued by the theme title: Asian Fusion. Regular readers of this blog will know that anything having any kind of Eastern or oriental flavour is bound to get my attention. So, off we hopped to take a look. Now, truth be told, “Asian” and “oriental” fusions in Second Life often tends to lean towards regions with a blending of predominantly Chinese and Japanese elements, so I was curious to see if Sera would cast her net wider than purely Sino-Japanese influences. And she has. Quite marvellously so.

Great Second Life Destinations: Lick Sim Designs Visualizes The Lost World of Atlantis

Great Second Life Destinations: Lick Sim Designs Visualizes The Lost World of Atlantis | Second Life Destinations | Scoop.it
LICK Sim Designs goes underwater and visualizes the mythical City of Atlantis which may lay under the Mediterranean Sea or somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean (beyond the Pillars of Hercules) depending on your views of archeological myth. Seabirds and dolphins grace the surface above for those who just want to hang out on a pretty island beach. Structures and statues out of an ancient Minoan civilization greet the visitor as exotic plants and sponges decorate a gorgeous ocean floor.

WeeVille - Second life

WeeVille - Second life | Second Life Destinations | Scoop.it

.Under a lavender sky blanketed with serenely drifting cream-colored clouds, the little inhabitants of WeeVille go about their day, often tending a fire near their hobbit-style homes (image below). Merhorses frolic in the waters (lowest image), unicorns saunter in the nearby grasses, and beams of sunlight shine through the thick woods in the center of the sim. And, on the southeastern corner of the sim, a delightfully quirky row of homes on stilts stands in the water along the shore

The whimsy of WeeVille in Second Life

The whimsy of WeeVille in Second Life | Second Life Destinations | Scoop.it

A regular stopping off point for me as I make my way through Second Life is Sera Bellic’s Homestead region of Oyster Bay. Every few months Sera gives the region a make-over presenting something new for people to explore, and I’d been looking forward to making a return trip to see what was new since recently noting the region was closed to visitors –  a sure sign Sera was reinventing it.

Over the years, the region has seen a lot – scenes of destruction, tempest, beauty and mystery; there have been country houses and gardens; fun fairs and glimpses of the future; country walks – and even a look into both heaven and hell. I’ve covered much of the changing face of Oyster Bay in these pages, and was delighted to find that for its newest look, Sera has turned to the realms of whimsy and fantasy in order to present WeeVille to the world.

Simtipp: WeeVille (LICK Sim Designs)  Oyster Bay - Second life | Second Life Destinations | Scoop.it

Byrd Island - Oyster Bay - Second life

Byrd Island - Oyster Bay - Second life | Second Life Destinations | Scoop.it

When I arrived at Byrd Island it was foggy (using the windlight settings of the sim) and the atmosphere accordingly mystic. A swarm of seagulls welcomed me as well as some pelicans. As expected there’re many birds and even when you don’t see them by accident their sound is everywhere. I do like in particular the big wooden landing pier as it reminds me of my home RL. There’s one big difference to reality – in Second Life the pier isn’t covered with bird droppings. At the pier, where you arrive is a little beach and the elevator to the high plateau of Byrd Island. You can use a rope ladder instead for getting there. I roamed around the Island and peeked into the buildings. The sim is beautiful, offers many views and places to sit and cuddle and is for sure worth a visit just to explore or to get some ideas for own sim designs.

Byrd Island - Oyster Bay - Second life - Echt Virtuell | Second Life Destinations | Scoop.it

These 11 shots are from the “Byrd Island” build created by LICK Sim Design located on the Oyster Bay sim. Sera Bellic has created another incredible build and, as usual, it does not disappoint. The story goes, “Welcome to Byrd Island. Take a step back in time to explore this once inhabited island. The Light house keeper and his family abruptly left the island never to return. Could it have been the birds, or something else? Byrd Island is now open for tours. Check the schedule for the next ferry from the mainland.” Outstanding!!!
