Homebuyer and Homeowner Resolutions for the New Year

The New Year is a time for resolutions, here is a look at what has happened this year in real estate and some resolutions for potential homebuyers and current homeowners. As we look back over 2013, we can see that the housing crisis has turned around. Mortgage delinquencies have fallen from their all-time highs.  Monthly foreclosures are down to levels last seen in 2008, and new and existing home sales are strong. Home prices surged mid-year and now those increases are moderating. It s still tough to get a mortgage and it might get a little tougher in January when the qualified residential mortgage (QRM) rules go into effect.  Bottom line, the outlook for real estate is brighter now than at any time since 2007. What are two things that will greatly affect real estate in 2014?  The “good” The Federal Reserve continues to buy mortgage backed securities and other securities which help to keep interest rates down.
