sea turtles
WWF is working to reduce turtle killing and egg collection. Because turtle killing is usually done because of a lack of economic choices, they help the people live better so that local people are no longer dependent on turtle products for money. WWF also trains and equips local rangers; they patrol turtle nesting beaches and protect the turtles against poaching. During the nesting season, turtle hunters search the beaches at night looking for nesting females. Usually they will wait until the female has laid her eggs then they kill her. They take both the eggs and the meat. Additionally, people may use other parts of the turtle for products, including the oil, cartilage, skin and shell.
