Easily Create Screencast Videos With Kazam Screencaster [Linux] | Screencasting & Flipping for Online Learning | Scoop.it

Kazam Screencaster is an easily available free screencasting tool that you can use on Linux to make such videos. There are a couple of other tools out in the wild that you can use, but Kazam seems to be one of the easiest to work with. It seems that Kazam is only officially available for Ubuntu as there are PPAs for it, which is a shame, but I’m sure that someone can take the source code and compile it themselves on other distributions.

» Doceri and the Flipped Classroom: Audio/video screencasting coming this Spring Freedom to Teach – the Doceri Blog | Screencasting & Flipping for Online Learning | Scoop.it

While instructors in higher education as well as the K-12 level are using standard videos made available by Kahn and others, there is an increasing desire among instructors to create their own screencasts – also called vodcasts – for use by their students and shared by other faculty. This is definitely one of the features that our customers have most often requested over the past year, and this week we’ve announced that the new version of Doceri, due out within 30 days, will include audio/video screencasting right from the Doceri Remote iPad app. In fact we’ve been selected at the prestigious SXSW LAUNCHedu event on Wednesday March 7, where we’ll give a preview of the new features.

(MT)^2 Presentation: Whatever you do with technology, make sure it fits into your educational philosophy. In other words: determine your philosophy first, then find the tools to make it happen. The first half was about the successes and difficulties I’ve had teaching in a reverse class setting. I demonstrated how easy it is to create a screencast using screencast-o-matic, and shared how much my students have liked them. We had a very good discussion on how students of different abilities might respond to a reverse classroom. Downloadable PDF of presentation slides.

On Tuesday, December 20, 2011, technology integration specialists Wayne Feller, Kristin Daniels, and Tom Brandt (Osseo Public Schools) led a presentation and workshop session at the monthly TIES Key Instructional Contact (KIC) meeting. The structure of this presentation/workshop was divided into four sections. Each of the four sections dealt with a thematic area of concern with flipped classrooms. We introduced each of the four sections by providing information about our own context of experience, then invited all of the participants to have their own discussions in small groups on the same topic. Each of the groups documented their discussion on a Google doc which was shared by all.
