For the First Time, Scientists Photograph Memories Being Formed

For the First Time, Scientists Photograph Memories Being Formed | Screencasting and eLearning Wizardry | Scoop.it
Scientists have achieved a new milestone in brain imaging: we have seen a memory in the process of being formed. Using brain cells from a lowly sea slug, which actually makes a good model for our brains, images were captured of proteins forming between the neurons. These proteins distinguish the memory as a long-term one rather than short-term, as the proteins solidify the memory in the neurons. This process had been suspected but not visualized until now.

Kolb - Learning Styles

"Kolb's experiential learning theory works on two levels: a four stage cycle of learning and four separate learning styles."

While I don't subscribe to learning styles theory, I do see value in the 4-stage model. "Much of Kolb’s theory is concerned with the learner’s internal cognitive processes...learning involves the acquisition of abstract concepts that can be applied flexibly in a range of situations. In Kolb’s theory, the impetus for the development of new concepts is provided by new experiences. 'Learning is the process whereby knowledge is created through the transformation of experience.'"

Improve Engagement, Focus, and Comprehension with Closed Captions for eLearning Videos by Pamela S. Hogle : Learning Solutions Magazine

Improve Engagement, Focus, and Comprehension with Closed Captions for eLearning Videos by Pamela S. Hogle : Learning Solutions Magazine | Screencasting and eLearning Wizardry | Scoop.it
Many eLearning developers make two critical errors in the way they think about closed captions: They see captioning only as an accessibility aid. And they assume that, since they have no deaf learners, they do not need to implement captions. Actually, make that three errors: Many developers also believe that, if they ever “needed to,” they could easily add captioning later.
