In a future where everyone has instant access to the internet through a chip in implanted in their brain called the Feed, Titus is about to discover that there may be more to life than the Feed.

 

Titus and his group of fun loving friends went to the moon to have fun only to discover that it "turned out to completely suck." While on the moon they run into the eccentric Violet, who is trying to have a typical teenage experience, and together they hit up the club Rumble Spot where the unimaginable happens—their Feeds get hacked. While the consequences are minor for Titus and his friends, the attack has a devastating effect on Violet’s Feed, which was installed later in her life. While Titus and his friends continue to m-chat, surf the web, and get ads aired the latest fad, Violet’s fauty Feed will start to get in the way of Titus’ carefree life style and cause him to question the technology he takes for granted.

It is in this very hostile world that Finn finds himself a prisoner and part of a rogue band of thieves. Finn has no knowledge of his life before Incarceron, yet he knows that there must be a way out of the prison, even though no one but the rumored Sapphique has ever escaped. However, when he finds a crystal key, he sets into motion a series of events that will change what he has known and that will test his courage and endurance.

If you liked Suzanne Collins’  "The Hunger Games" then you might enjoy Scott Westerfeld’s version of government and  science gone too far and a young girl caught in the midst.

 

Tally Youngblood just wants to be pretty and she is so close to joining her friends in New Pretty Town. As soon as she turns 16 she will get the operation that will transform her from an ugly to a pretty and start the next stage of her life. It is all any ugly can think about, or so Tally thinks, until she meets Shay who has some rather radical ideas which involve staying an ugly forever. Just before her operation, Shay escapes to the Smoke–a colony where she can avoid the operation. Now, with her operation at risk, Tally must follow Shay to the Smoke and decide whether or not to betray her friend to achieve her dream. However, Tally is about to discover that there is more to becoming a pretty than a simple operation and so she must chose her allegiance: the government or her friends.
