PlantingScience is a learning and research resource, bringing together students, plant scientists, and teachers from across the US. Students engage in hands-on plant investigations, working with peers and scientist mentors to build collaborations and to improve their understanding of science. USA-based, but this looks like an interesting model for involving young people in plant science.

How Does Your Garden Grow? - Botany for Gardeners seminar series

How Does Your Garden Grow? - Botany for Gardeners seminar series | SCIENCE FAIR PROJECTS | Scoop.it

Have you ever considered sharing your knowledge of plant science with gardeners? To inspire you, here is a Saturday morning garden center seminar series being given by Cara Daly (@cairotango, Waterford Institute of Technology, Ireland).

Topics are

1. Plants have to eat too

2. Uniqueness in the plant world. What makes a species unique?

3. Hormonal plants and the importance of pollination

4. The plant's fight for survival in a hostile world

5. "I've always wondered about that." Ask any question and get it answered!

If you are feeling a little burned out from teaching undergraduates, an enthusiastic and motivated audience (that doesn't require any grading) might be just what you need!

To meet these challenges our education programme is designed to nurture an enthusiasm for science, engineering, technology and mathematics in young people. The knowledge, understanding and skills they gain can lead to worthwhile and exciting careers, driving forward innovation and supporting the economic resurgence of our communities.
