aisha Roberts's insight:

This video talks about how mentoring can be helpful for new teachers and older teachers. The new teacher talks about the sense of knowing the culture of your school and how things work in the school's environment. The principal needs to be flexible enough to understand what changes are important to keep and change for the benefit of the students. It is imporant for new principals to be able to think on their feet, be creative and relate to people. By doing the mentor program, this new  year principal recieves critial advise, honest advice and can solve the problems for the needs of the students and faculty, Both principals build a strong relationship and help each other.

In my high school, I had two pricipal. Both were disconnected the the students and the culture of the school. They could not control the students and they did not form positive relationships with the students. I think if they had a mentor, they would recieve helpful tips to help them to adapt to the school environment.

The Benefits of Mentoring

aisha Roberts's insight:

This article talks about mentoring purpose in high school that can range from tutoring, skill trainings and coaching. Mentoring in high school increases high school graduation, healthier relationships and higher college enrollment. School dropout rates decrease and student self-esteem and confidences increase. It improves interpersonal skills and help students to transition through different periods of their life. I think it is important to have mentor programs because students need guidance as they become young adults. They need a role model or someone that expresses positive behaviors to influence them.

I witness the positive outcomes of mentoring on my friend, she lacked interest in something meaning full to do and she need guidance. By joining the mentor programs she was encouraged to do good and   improved her academics in her subjects.

aisha Roberts's insight:

This video talks about the fears that new teachers have and it talks about the progress they have  with their mentor teacher. The first teacher Brian was afraid of being unprepared, Lisa misjudge the need for mentor assistance, and Aleecia feared discipline. By working with their mentor teacher they were given helpful suggestions to improve and reflect on their teaching. Brian was able to get through to his students, Lisa was able to co-plan with her mentor and do more research on her subject and Aleecia was able to plan effectively with parents on what she is doing in the classroom.

My opportunity with my co-teacher was helpful because I was able to ask her questions and talk to her about my fears of becoming a teacher. She gaved me advise and told me her plans for the classroom and how she is flexible.
