College Education Value Rankings - PayScale 2013 College ROI Report

College Education Value Rankings - PayScale 2013 College ROI Report | Applying for College and Scholarships | Scoop.it
Think you know what college you want to attend? Review your investment, first. Check PayScale's college education value rankings by tuition ROI.

Via Katie Gwyn
Lauren Stiger's insight:

This article lists colleges based off of return of investment. When looking into colleges to attend it is important to consider the value of the education you are getting as compared to the cost of attending. Of the schools I applied to these made the list: Washington State-In State(235),Oregon State- Out of State(264), Central Washington-In State (352). This article gives the 2012 cost, 30 year net ROI, and the annual ROI. The ranking is done by PayScale of over 1,000 U.S. colleges and universities, including private, public and for-profit schools.  To determine the potential financial return of attending each school  the cost of tuition and the payoff in median lifetime earnings associated with each school is considered.

This article is useful in seeing which colleges will make your education worth the investment. I applied to one school in the top 200 of Return of Investment, The University of Washington (In-State) ranked at 115. It is nice to see that the investment and the sacrifice that we are making is worth it in the future to get a head and in becoming a success.

These tips were extremely helpful in prioritizing what I need to get done and finding out what things were really important in applying. It was hard to stay organized in everything I do but organization was the key to completion.

Dominique I's curator insight, December 2, 2014 3:37 PM

Its good to stay ahead and on top of the college deadlines and when they are make sure that you remember when they are due it's not good to wait until the last minute to do college applications because  trust me it can be really be stressfull to do espicially when you have to check make sure you did everything right and so for, so its good to be on top of it even write it on your calendar when the deadline is due which can help you on keeping track of how many days you have towards completing the application on time and correctly.

Taylor Anne Teachworth's curator insight, January 15, 2014 2:21 AM

This is a FANTASTIC resource. I am the kind of person that likes to see what other people have done so I have kind of a mental outline of what people are looking for. This website gives you sample essays from some Ivy League schools, as well as others. It was a HUGE help!

Lars A's curator insight, November 17, 2014 3:34 PM

Since Elementary School we've been practicing how to write essays-and now it matters more than ever! College application essays are tricky-you have to stand out from the crowd and be unique, but make sure your essay is well-formatted and sticks to what you've learned in school. The basics are still very important: you need a intro the grabs attention, a body of work that well supports your claim, and a conclusion that effectively summarizes the paper. When writing, it's paramount to consider your audience? Who is going to read your writing, and what are they looking for when they read it? Your essay has to display to the college why you think they are a good fit for you, and why you think you're a good fit for them.
