I haven't been able to find the exact speech by R Wang, but this video definitely has the same enthousiasm as at HR Tech Europe.

 

Some key ideas on digital business disruption

- we move from selling products and services to keeping brand promises

- we serve 5 generations of customers & workers (generations of digital profiency, not age!) so we have digital natives, digital immigrants, digital voyeurs, digital hold outs and the digitally disengaged

- data is the foundation of digital business

Transparency is definitely the buzz word: I'm a Trip Advisor adept myself and cannot help but see the potential of a network like Glassdoor. Wonder if Europe will welcome it in the same way as the US.

Where do we turn for trusted info: to our network! And here as well as with any rating: it won't be believed if it is not balanced.

Organizations are increasingly realizing that they need to become learning organizations, if they have to stay ahead of the curve.

I attended large parts of this session and was happy to discover that our company is smoothly up to date with many of the presented trends & principles.

 

Some ideas from Surya to integrate on a social learning platform:

- the LFM or learning from movies - column

- a Friday/Monday/any day poll

- a day of the week live debate

 

And a beautiful analogy between social (learning) platforms and public gardens: 5 to 10% are gardeners keeping the park neat and adding new plants, rest are visitors thoroughly enjoying their work.. Same goes for  social learning platforms!

Something to think about: collaboration is hard to measure, so we need managers to observe collaboration and their judgement about it. Managers will however need some help in doing this.
