 Many of the objects in the water that humans have put there can rip the skin of a dolphin and that can make them vulnerable to bacteria or infections.  They are already prone to a variety of diseases and parasites so this makes them more susceptible.

Humans and water related activities such as boating are extremely common in the areas where dolphins are found. The risk of injury or death to them from being struck by such heavy motorized vehicles is very likely.
