Russ DeVeau...a bit about me

Russ DeVeau...a bit about me | Russ DeVeau | Scoop.it
Welcome to one of my curated pages!

I’m an author, editor, writer and market researcher based in New York City.

I’ve had the opportunity to work on content development, editorial, integrated strategic communications and market research programs with developer, technology and marketing teams from some of the world’s most recognized brands including American Express, AOL, BMW, Cisco, General Motors, Google, HP, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, Nokia, NTT, Oracle, RSA Security, SAP and Wells Fargo.

My tech background includes over ten years of experience working with leading global technology consortia and standards bodies. I’ve partnered with organizations such as Climate Savers Computing Initiative, Concordia Project, Java Verified, Kantara Initiative, Liberty Alliance, Liberty Interoperable, OpenLiberty.org, Open Data Center Alliance, Open Fog Consortium and Unified Testing Initiative on a wide range of strategic positioning, community building and membership programs.

My nonprofit background includes fundraising, market research and public program development for organizations that include the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Hartford College for Women and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

These pages represent a snapshot of original works from my Twitter feed and from my tech, market research and content development blog. Once in a while I point to content from my pre #womenintech days with a post or two from my Hartford College for Women blog.

Follow me on Twitter for my take on some of the most important issues in technology and where I often showcase new tools and trends for content creators. -  Russ DeVeau

What’s your content strategy?

What’s your content strategy?  | Russ DeVeau | Scoop.it

"I’ve long been a big advocate of the 'content is king' message as a means to educate client teams on best practices for leveraging traditional and social media as part of a comprehensive communications program.

So as we head through 2Q I’m updating content calendars to complement a variety of planned communications activities. In a communications environment where traditional and social media play important roles, no communications plan is complete without regular content discussions.

In fact, the majority of my recent client brainstorming sessions have focused 100% on content development and marketing opportunities. Content development discussions are the new norm." – Russ DeVeau

"I’ve worked proactively with many top-notch journalists at Environmental Leader over the past several years including when I helped place this story based on ODCA news announcing how enterprises can measure and control data center CO2 emissions.

The story was incredibly well received by communities and target audiences around the world. Equally as important, the coverage set the stage for involving ODCA in the Environmental Leader Product & Project Awards program." - Russ DeVeau

A Web 2.0 flashback as Reddit adds video

A Web 2.0 flashback as Reddit adds video  | Russ DeVeau | Scoop.it
"Influencing search was one of the reasons I included Reddit as a platform I discussed when I began holding training sessions for technology and communications teams on blogging and social media best practices.

One of my first training sessions took place in San Francisco in 2006 when I showed a group of clients how sharing and sharing buttons on websites worked. I demonstrated how a blog could almost immediately show up at the top of a Google or Yahoo search page after sharing the content on sites such as Reddit and Digg." - Russ DeVeau
