Cheetahfit - home of champions

Cheetahfit - home of champions | Running with Dreams | Scoop.it

"See what elite training is all about..." it said on the website. So I did, and found Matt Hoskins, trainer of champions. He has rebuilt me like a power athlete so that 18 months on I am not only 50% stronger, but everything is connected up. I have more ROM but I am stiffer. That means no power leakage when I put the pedal down. I've avoided racing while this has been going on, but I did run - and win - the Sombrero Trail Run off basic aerobic fitness, and have got my 5m time trial time down to 7:02 pace....

Noakes on training intensity

Noakes on training intensity | Running with Dreams | Scoop.it

Podcast #138 from http://www.bengreenfieldfitness.com/2011/03/episode-138-tim-noakes-tells-you-how-you-can-use-the-central-governor-to-tap-into-your-muscles-hidden-potential/ , today’s interview with Dr. Timothy Noakes is fascinating. It actually really changed the way that I work out and the way that I train. It kind of, it really put up a light bulb in my head and changed some of my previous beliefs about the way that the body responds to pain and intensity, particularly during exercise.  (TRANSCRIPT)

Lactate Clearance in the Acutely Traumatized Patient : Anesthesiology

Lactate Clearance in the Acutely Traumatized Patient : Anesthesiology | Running with Dreams | Scoop.it

WHEN oxygen delivery falls below a critical threshold, the anaerobic threshold, the amount of oxygen available for consumption is not able to meet the needs of cells. These imbalances result in cellular hypoxia, resulting in the failure of mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation, and as a result energy metabolism becomes wholly dependent on anaerobic glycolysis.1 Anaerobic glycolysis sharply increases the production of cellular lactate, which diffuses into the blood during prolonged cell ischemia. Elevated circulating lactate concentration thus often indicates widespread inadequate tissue oxygenation due to inadequate oxygen delivery and/or consumption.2
