Protectorate- a state or territory partly controlled by a stronger state but autonomous in internal affairs.

 

Outmaneuvered- evade by moving faster or which greater ability.

 

Armistice- an agreement made by opposing sides in a war to stop fighting for a certain time.

 

Affirmative- agreeing with a statement or to a request.

 

Indemnity- security or protection against a loss or other financial burden.
