Case study

Via Alfredo DeLeon, Chris Adkins
Chris Adkins's insight:
This case study focuses on the relationship between groundwater and river water and the effects this relationship has on these water systems. This information is relevant to the water quality/nutrients, importance to humans, and issues facing this biome portions of the Biome Chart. This information is also relatively current (within the last 10 years).

River and Streams Biome - Untamed Science

River and Streams Biome - Untamed Science | Rivers and Streams Biome | Scoop.it
The River and Stream Biome Rivers and Streams are places where water is being transported from one place to another. With few exceptions, rivers take the water that collects in a watershed and ultimately deposits that water in the ocean.
Chris Adkins's insight:
The video in this source is relevant and serves as a baseline of basic information on the rivers and streams biome. Untamed Science is a credible source and this video was made under the direction of Rob Nelson, biologist and director of Untamed Science. Though this video was made in 2009, this information is basic enough that it is still accurate after a few years.

Freshwater Biome

Freshwater Biome | Rivers and Streams Biome | Scoop.it
A freshwater biome is one that many people overlook the importance of. They are much smaller bodies of water, but important just the same. These freshwater biomes include lakes, rivers, streams, and creeks.
Chris Adkins's insight:
This informational website provides valid and relevant information about the rivers and streams biome, but specifically about the plant and animal life in it. Bioexpedition is an authoritative informational website dedicated to providing information about a wide range of animals and their biomes.

Winona's curator insight, November 8, 2013 7:43 AM

This case study discusses in detail the groundwater and river water quality interaction in the Mataura Catchment. It meets the CRAAP test as it was published sometime in 2013, and was retrieved from a UCLA website, and is therefore credible and recent.
