talking about videogame..."Spielberg, looking farther ahead, said he thinks the real shift will come when game controllers are obsolete and games are controlled by Kinect-like devices that completely immerse the player in the story. “I believe need to get rid of the proscenium,” Spielberg said. “We’re never going to be totally immersive as long as we’re looking at a square, whether it’s a movie screen or whether it’s a computer screen. We’ve got to get rid of that and we’ve got to put the player inside the experience, where no matter where you look you’re surrounded by a three-dimensional experience. That’s the future.”

How does one develop stories and characters that can travel across screens and devices? What will emerge as new formats and how will they be funded and distributed?

Lance Weiler, director of The Last Broadcast and Head Trauma, details the story architecture that he employs to build story worlds around his film, TV and gaming projects.

Andrea Rossi's curator insight, September 14, 2013 3:46 AM

"In Jenkins’ view, five logics are contributing to the emergence of transmedia and the phenomenon of increased fan participation (‘fandom’):

- The logic of entertainment, as evidenced by the presence in the US TV schedules of TV series and reality shows;
- The logic of social connection, highlighted by votes and discussions on social networking sites;
- The logic of experts, symbolised by the collective intelligence (Levy, 1994true) brought to bear by fans for the purposes of creation, production and discussion. Henry Jenkins cites the examples of the creation of Twin Peaks fan sites and the Lost Wiki (Lostpedia), which both collate articles written by fans to offer greater insight into both series;
- The logic of immersion, which encourages participation. For example, on Oscars night fans could use a number of interactive tools to immerse themselves in the ceremony and form a community;
- The logic of identification, which enables fans to establish an identity depending on what they watch."

TREND SPOTTING: The design and development of 'cards' that pushes pieces of relevant information via mobile your way: We're starting to see this trend being realized already: Focused Marketing and movement AWAY from engine searches

ex. "With Google Now, Google is rethinking information distribution, away from search, to personalised information pushed to mobile devices. Their design pattern for this is cards."

Dean Meyers's curator insight, September 10, 2013 7:50 AM

Has resonsive web site design met its match? Or, has it evolved from somthing old becoming something new? The use of modular cards, probably most visibly used first by Pinterest, may be the solution for visually driven, non-heirarcheical sites that have equal use across the desktop to the tablet to the handheld environment. If you are working across many screens and have despaired over making your site work equally well, this may be the answer.
