Today, the learning environment has been fundamentally redefined since older generations were in school learning exclusively from teachers, textbooks, and chalkboards. Disabilities were undiagnosed and unaddressed back then, with no support networks in place to facilitate the learning of struggling students.

However,technology today is seeking to under do the mistakes of the past that cordoned off select students from learning. Consequently, whether its pinpoint accurate databases resembling SCADA or fully interactive robots, here is the role technology will play in the future of education.

A significant challenge facing organisations who have invested in workplace learning is identifying and closing skill gaps, whilst also maintaining an engaging and effective culture of learning.

Research into workplace learning has revealed that learners are growing bored of administrator driven learning experiences, resenting a platform that gives them little choice, almost no control and doesn’t meet the requirements of their individual professional goals.

The ubiquity of modern technology means that learning activities can be tracked almost anywhere (with a little help from xAPI). The evolution of such technology has also driven the needs of learners to evolve, with organisations now requiring a new, more advanced version of their traditional LMS set-up to assist employees in discovering and engaging in relevant learning opportunities.

This is where the Learning Experience Platform comes in.

Why EdTech Specialists should focus on transformation, not tools | RIED. Revista Iberoamericana de Educación a Distancia | Scoop.it

In the last decade, schools have dedicated tremendous resources to deploying technology into the classroom. As they invested in hardware and software, they began employing educational technology specialists to incorporate technology that improves pedagogy. Ideally, these specialists partner with teachers to design unique and creative experiences using new technology to boost engagement and risk-taking.

In practice, however, teachers tend to seek out specialists for a technological solution that makes an assignment or grading practice more efficient: A teacher takes a new tool or technique and applies it to previous content or assignments. These interactions are transactional rather than transformational; they enforce the status quo. And ultimately, they make it harder to transform learning in the long run.

Na última quarta-feira, dia 17 de outubro, a Fundação Lemann, em parceria com o CIEB realizou um estudo voltado justamente para esse setor. O encontro reuniu empreendedores em educação, edtechs e profissionais da área de tecnologia de secretarias municipais para discutir tecnologia, inovação e educação. Durante o evento foi publicado, ainda, o “Guia de alinhamento de recursos digitais à BNCC”.
O guia pretende orientar o processo de elaboração de tecnologias educacionais para que estas estejam alinhadas às determinações da Base Nacional Comum Curricular (BNCC). O material é gratuito e está disponível para download no site da Fundação Lemann.

We began with a sense of mission: to support teachers in making effective use of learning technologies. Educational research has done little so far to help teachers into the digital age; policy hardly anything at all.

Teacher professional development (TPD) has shifted from directing what we can do for teachers to a more constructivist approach of what teachers can do for themselves (Van Driel & Berry, 2012). Every day, every teacher has the opportunity to test and discover new techniques, and learn from their students what works and what does not. However, their discoveries go unrecorded, and remain local to their immediate context.

Suppose we could turn those isolated experiments into a collaborative knowledge-building community for pedagogy? Suppose we could make teaching a kind of ‘design science’ (Laurillard, 2012) in which teachers keep improving their practice, building on research and the work of others?
