I look forward to hearing Magna Carta Holy Grail when it comes out...but I'm just a bit sad that I don't have a Galaxy smartphone, to be one of the first to listen to it.

Jay-Z's 'Holy Grail' Sparks Change in Association's Award Rules - Associations Now

Jay-Z's 'Holy Grail' Sparks Change in Association's Award Rules - Associations Now | INDUSTRY NEWS | Scoop.it
Jay-Z's 'Holy Grail' Sparks Change in Association's Award Rules Associations Now Last week RIAA announced it would update its G&P Program requirements that certify a digital album as platinum or gold after Samsung purchased 1 million digital copies...
Jacob Raifsnider's insight:

Shawn Carter formally know by his stage name (Jay-Z), has sparked a conflict within the Recording industry Association of America because he had made a deal with Samsung. Previously Jay-Z would have to wait 30 days after his official release to find out how his album had done in order to be verified by sales. Now the certification company has changed its rules from appropriate pre-sales towards gold and platinum status.

Pros: This would give artists gold and platinum titles sooner to offical release.

Con: Easier for artists to gain platinum and gold titles. Digital media is making their move into the recording industry awards, which also bounces back on to streaming. Streaming now counts towards the sales of the album or song.
