Most Americans are not fluent in another language besides English. This is probably do to Americas economic dominance in the world. Although you do find a lot of Americans traveling over seas to other countries for business they still don't know much if any Chinese, Japanese, etc. There are translators present but other countries make an effort to know English to be sucessful in the business world.
